Pool Room Practical Jokes

Have you ever played a practical joke on another pool player?

Before I joined the Air Force I worked at the pool room near my house just for something to do while I was waiting to go. It afforded me free pool time, tip money, and a decent hourly wage - plus all of my friends "lived" there, so it was *almost* like not working. Oh, and the pool room was like 2 miles from my hosue so it was close.

My manager loved spicing up his food and happened to have a bottle of "Dave's Insanity Sauce" (which is the hottest hot sauce available). Well, this got me to thinking.........our pool room had the best burgers and fries I've ever had out of any pool room. Seriously. Just phenomenal. With our fries we would dispense ketchup into a little plastic cup (or two, or three) to go along with the fries. My friend Dale ordered some fries, and I looked at the bottle of "Insanity sauce", looked back at my manager, looked back at the sauce - and a big smile came across both of our faces.

We made Dale's fries and just put ONE DROP (all it takes with that stuff, anymore and it could have really injured his mouth/esophagus) into Dale's little cup of ketchup. He grabbed his fries from the counter, and went back to his table. The manager and I stood at the counter to watch the events unfold. Dale placed his fries on the table, and at first was hitting a few balls so we were stalled. He then grabbed a big delicious fry, and took his time to smother it in ketchup. I started giggling just at the site of that. He crammed the french fry into his mouth and started chewing that fry like a dog chews on a bone. Within about 3 seconds of chewing his eyes got really big, and his face started getting red. He grabbed his soda and started swigging, and looking at his fries with a panic'd expression on his face. We were at the counter DIEING LAUGHING, watching him chug that soda and look all freaked out. He happened to glance at the counter, and saw us laughing and he knew that we got him.

It doesn't sound as funny now - but if you were there it was HILARIOUS.

So, have you pulled any poolroom pranks?

Ouch! That's pretty good...and mean. :D This isn't incredibly funny but the bar cue rack is near the bathroom so every now and then when someone I know goes in there I lean about 20 bar cues up against the door. The door opens inward too so 20 bar cues fall into the bathroom with you on your way out and makes quite a scene. It's a good way to embarrass the hell out of someone.

This is good--

Tell someone you learned a new trick-shot. Setup two balls, one in each corner pocket. Secretly put a nickel off the center diamond about 2" from the rail. Tell them to put one finger on each ball (as they stand at the middle of the rail) while you hit the CB 4 rails and tell them to tell you while you're stroking which ball they want the CB to hit. Aim right for the nickel.

As you stroke, hit with a medium/hard stroke. The mark will say "this ball" or "that ball" and when the CB hits the nickel, it launches over the rail and hits them in the nuts.

Use a dime...they will be less suspicious. I saw this on youtube first. I've never actually done it to someone but verified it would definitely work.

I have a very out of round cue ball that I have been known to slip to an unsuspecting opponent that has BIH. The damn thing won't stay put and if you are lucky enough to get it to stay and then hit it, it wobbles all over the place. :D

I have a trick 8-ball and used it on Inzombiac a while ago. We were playing 8-ball and I slipped it into the rack while he was washing his hands. I won the first game and made sure to fire in the 8-ball so he wouldn't notice the wobble. He racked ( ) and didn't notice the 8-ball wobble thank god.

Anyway, we played a few racks without him noticing until he was on the 8 and tried to shoot it slowly into the corner. It slowed down quickly and took a sharp left turn. He exclaimed something like "What the @#$%!?" and I kindly racked for him with the real 8-ball :D

When I owned a bar a few years back. I had a friend/patron who put tabasco around the rim of my glass of Coors and alerted the whole bar about was going to happen. Well as expected I took a long drink and immediately knew my mouth was on fire and who had done it. So to sooth my burning lips and toungue I grabed my bottle of Coors which I was pouring from and took a big swig, sure enough he had gotten the bottle also as expected. Very funny and very hot. I was very cautious from then on.

Yeah, we wouldn't have done that if he hadn't known Dale would be a good sport about it. He never got mad, and was laughing as he tried to 'cool down'....LOL.

Terrible but funny.............

We had a guy who worked in the poolroom who passed away a few years ago. He had 2 classics:

1) He would give a set of pool balls to some teenagers and send them to the billiard table. They would rack the balls, with the rack from the empty pool table next to them. Pick a cue off the wall, roll it on the table and then break. Only to then realize there were no pockets! He would then get on the loud speaker and tell them that the guys were coming tomorrow to cut the holes in that on so they could use the table next to them.

2) He would get on the loud speaker and say "Did anyone lose a large wad of cash with a rubber band wrapped around it?" Several would say "Yeah, I did." He would reply "You can come to the counter and get your rubber band. It's ok."

Priceless! :o)

I miss that old SOB.

He was the best.

Miss you Tex!

I'd take a peice of new chalk, fill in the hole will a old used tip to make it flat.Peel the cover off a new piece of chalk.Stick it over the other chalk I made the hole flat. Now it looks the same on all sides,no hole. Sneek it on the table and watch the player turn it all aroud, looking for the hole to chalk up. lol

That's good. It'd look like they were trying to figure out a rubik's cube. :D

I'd take a house cue and make a ring around the middle like a sneky pete. Ask someone to hold it while I broke it down to put away...lol.. no way

Last April Fools day, my friend who uses green chalk finally got back a dig against the guy who owns a couple of places here. The room owner despises green chalk and will often swipe it and toss it in the trash or hide it, more of a joke than anything, just to watch my friend go nuts looking for his chalk.

Well, that AF day, my buddy stopped at the first room to warm up before heading to the other place for our weekly nineball tourney. My friend collects all the blue chalk and dumps it in the trash can, replacing it with a mix of new and used green chalk for the entire room. Two cubes on each table. Befor he left, he grabbed the box with all the new cubes of blue chalk, and took it with him.

About a half-hour later he arrives at the other room to play the tourney and finds the room owner hasn't arrived yet. He promptly does the same thing at this location also. Not more than fifteen minutes later, the room owner comes in and is going to throw a rack of balls on the table and notices the green chalk.

He goes to get the box of new blue chalk, only to see it is full of brand new cubes of green stuff. He starts griping a little bit that they sent him the wrong color chalk. What was funnier yet was watching him collect all the gren chalk up and then call over to the other place only to find out they had all greeen chalk also. He finally realized he had been had when he seen my friend and several of us sitting at a far off table with two boxes of blue chalk in front of us laughing our asses off.
