Pool Rooms in STL?

I'm not from St Louis, but go down to Cardinal games when I can and spend a couple nights there whenever possible. Anyone have any rooms to recommend down there? Probably somewhere downtown would work the best since that is where I always stay, and often can't drive anywhere before or after the games:D

Collinsville, Ill

Go to Mark Wilsons Billiard Dugout on Main Street. He is a great guy, player, teacher, announcer, etc. The bad thing about him is he is a cardinal fan.

I don't know much about it but I think there's a poster here that owns a room cueandcushion Check the member list and pm him maybe.

I'm not aware of any pool rooms downtown. There is at least one sports bar with some tables on the landing, but not the same as a pool room. Mark Wilson's place and Cue and Cushion are both good rooms. It depends on what you are looking for. Mark has tournaments several nights a week, Cue and Cushion has more tables and the biggest selection of cues in the St Louis area. Neither are downtown.

If you are a Cardinals fan, you should take the trouble to find Mark's place on the Illinois side. You won't be sorry.

Welcome to STL.

Mark will sometimes close down if he goes to a Cards game so make sure and call first to make sure he is open. I do hope you come visit my family's room as well. You can preview everything on our website and follow the links here for coupons Sun-Thurs. Thanks Al for the plug!

The closest place to downtown is The Break, across the river, about a five minute cab ride from the stadium. It's generally considered "the action room" in the St. Louis area. Terry & Co. are hospitable hosts, the tables are cleaned daily, there's good food and a full bar, and -- unlike one other place mentioned in this thread -- the room is kept nice and clean and the money table doesn't have more rolls to it than a putting green.

Nut,
Mark Wilson's pool establishment is just across the river in Collinsville, IL (you can see the arch from there). If you are a Cardinals fan (or a pool fan), you owe it to yourself to make the trip. Mark has a large amount of Cardinal memorabilia (including part of the old Busch stadium scoreboard I think) and stories. It is well worth the drive.

I have made 3 "roadtrips" to the Bullpen for weekend lessons with Mark. Here are links to reports of each of the 3 visits.

P.S. - some pictures of the Billiards Bullpen are on the second page of the third thread listed above.

Printed off the directions last night! I'm coming down on the Missouri side this time, so you are right on the way. I have some friends in Edwardsville, so I occassionally come down through IL, and I will deffinately hit up Billiards Bullpen then!

Pool Rooms in St. Louis

Here's you a quick rundown of the pool halls in St. Louis...and area!
(Unfortunately none of them are really downtown)

Quinn's in Fairviewheights, Il (owned by Andy Quinn, arguably the best player in the St. Louis area. Several bar tables and few 9-footers.)

The Dugout, Collinsville, Il (Owned by Mark Wilson, former touring pro, accu-stats commentator, WPBA tournament director and a great instructor.)

The Break, Soget, Il (Owned by Terry Huelsman, The place everyone goes to match up! 9-footers and bar tables.)

Airport Billiards, St. Louis, Il (Was owned by the late Harry Sims...I hear his wife is still running it. I've only been there a couple of times a fewyears ago. The tables were lightening fast, but level.

Just One More, St. Peters, Mo (Great bar tables, lots of league players and a good weekend tournament, One triple shimmed Gold Crown)

Teachers Billiards, St. Peters, Mo (Lot's of bar tables, 4 gold crowns, occasional tournament on Sunday and Monday nights)

Cue and Cushion, Overland, Mo (Pretty much all 9 footers, and a couple of 3-cushion tables. Good clean equipment, and good players...great place to go if you're a serious player and interested in a little action playing just about any game.)

Cuetopia, St. Louis, Mo (Harold's new place...he used to own Billiards on Broadway if you're familiar. Mostly 9-footers and a great place for one pocket action. Good equipment, plenty of elbow room and Harold's a great host.)

Sports Center, St. Louis, Mo (Mostly 9-footers, another one of those rooms the good players go to match up! ;-)

Ride the Rail, St. Louis, Mo (Mostly bar tables, a few 9-footers...home of the annual Pepsi Classic tournament.)

Side Pockets, St. Peters, Mo (Good equipment, slower napped cloth on the bar tables, 4 9 footers, more of a upscale sports bar type environment, really good food, and usually pretty good scenery if you know what I mean! :-)

JW,
Very nice rundown.

Just one correction; it is the Billiard Bullpen in Collinsville (unless Mark changed the name since I was there in December).

Mark's website is www.playgreatpool.com

Oops Sorry! Thanks Willie you're correct!
I know Mark, but I've never actually made it over to his place, although I do here it's quite a nice setup with a radar gun for clocking you're break speed and weekend tournaments.
