My thanks to all that came forward to agree that cutting before banking was not an absolute statement although generally a very true one.
To lighten the mood a bit and get the thread back on track, I'd like to strangle whomever it was that showed me the trick of snapping the wrist side to side at the moment of impact to dig the tip into the cue ball to achieve greater english. Executed properly, you can juice the devil out of the cue ball. However, and yes that is a big bold however, there are far easier ways to achieve the same goal far more consistently with far better control and I wasted many an hour as a teen learning this technique. Some ghosts of it still want to sneak back into my game after a long lay off.
