Pool Table Light Dimensions

I have an 8ft Diamond Pro-AM and was looking at building a custom light similiar to the Diamond Light.

Does anyone have any information on the correct dimensions for an 8foot table light fixture? What about some pictures of some completed lights?

I've built a lot of woodworking projects over the years as a hobby (never a table light...). One suggestion for a project like this is the hardware available will determine the size. In other words, figure out what lights you want to use, buy them, and then design the box to hold them around them.

If you have the room and the money, a lighting surface that matches the playing surface of the table is very nice. The expensive Diamond light and the Brunswick GC light are both very close to the table dimensions.

Good luck.

I have a spare that I dont use. Too bad i'm in Florida shipping would be too much.

Does a Diamond light actually match the playing surface? I am asking because it seems that you would constantly hit your head if it did.

I was thinking of a 4 Foot Light and a Two Foot Light and then span 4-6 light tubes in width. Making the light slightly smaller seems that it would prevent me from hitting head.....

Thoughts?

Your Diamond light seems to be much higher off the table than the recommended distance for most pool lights.

How far above is your light from the table?

The light is 42" above the bed of the table. It is on chains and can be lowered (quite a lot) or raised (another 6-ish inches).

Note: some of the apparent visual height is the distortion of the 10mm lens used to take the image.

Did you hook the light to the joist and what type of screws did you use?

It will definitely be a great feeling to start on your pool table lighting project. But make sure you have done ample research before embarking on one.

All the best!
