Mark Selby played 8-ball in China last week.
Came second IIRC. :D

This week he plays in a ranking snooker tournament in Germany.

Where's the comparison?

In a big pool tournament the snooker player (current World Champion) came second.
In a snooker tournament this week he will finish ???

If he gets knocked out early, does that prove the superiority of the pack of pro snooker players?
:D  :grin-devilish:

Male snooker players come to pool because they couldn't handle snooker competition at the highest level.

Female snooker players come to pool because there is no pro female snooker tour - pool pays better, and top snooker players made the transition.

Selby came to China for the $100,000 pot. The prize up for grabs on the snooker tour last week was about 20% of that amount.
Seems to have been a rational economic decision.:D

Since Selby won a world 8 ball championship in 2006 he must play the game pretty well. Since they were playing the game on snooker type pockets it shifts the skills over into a different realm. It is kind of a cross between snooker and pool. Great format.

That was the English version - 3.5 x 7 table, tiny balls, light cue. :D

An E8B player who popped over a few years ago for a littel holiday and hasn't found his way home yet (may have met and married someone there too)

Selby, Appleton, Melling and the English lads who came from E8B are best suited to C8B. Usually cueists from the UK have a grounding in snooker as well. There were no pure US pool players close, which is no surprise at all.

good try but Darren has said he has never played snooker except in passing... Based on his perfomance I would expect to see Shane, Alex and a few others in attendance next year... I'd say Alex may have the nuts in a round robin between the 3 of them on those tables.....

OK, But Darren was two time finalist in the E8B world championships. Alex should be good at this game, he is the best snooker player in North America by quite a distance.
