Pool waist aprons

I remember a carom player in Japan who wore one. He was in his 30's and usually wore slacks and a vest, nice tie, and cuff links. On him, the apron made perfect sense and looked great.

You just described 50% of the pool and billiards players in Japan when they go out for a big tournament. Haha.

Richie "the Hat" Gieler wears one here in the Seattle area.

Hey there,I was trying to think of the guys name that I would see wearing
one of these about 25 years ago,and that's the guy! Rich Gieler. He was and probably still Is, a slick dude.Always liked his hats! He was the best dressed pro back In the day.Does he still wear thoses sharp hats? I'm sure he wore them(the apron) so as to not get chalk dust on him. If everyone would put the chalk right side up... people would not get as much chalk dust all over them.John B.

yeah John... when I spent about 10 years in Seattle.. he was one guy that was always a treat to watch play. He is not only super smooooooth dress wise.. but he has a super smooth stroke too. I love watching those kinds of strokes, where they just seem like they're stroking the ball so slow but yet get so much action on it. Throw in him dressing sharp, the panama hat and his upright stance...and he's enjoyable to watch at the table.

You need to look into getting some kind of "theme" going on at the table.:D

Hey Red,How about a straw hat and redwing work boots sound?

Yeah I forgot how upright that guy stood when he shot and what a smooth stroke had he,or should I say he's got.

Back to the thread.I forgot about the grey line I used to get from the GCs.
After 15 or 20 hrs It would be a pretty dark one too.How about them ole junk valley bar tables that would tear a hole In your pants when walking around the table.Nice design on those.Might get me one of them there aprons.John B.

CR/JB-

I saw Rich Geiler for the first time a couple years ago a the Swanee Tournament in SoCal.

A sharp dresser for sure. He has the look of a 1930's-1940's man about town.
Kind of a 'George Raft' vibe. And Rich shot pretty good pool too.

I saw him 'practicing' 3 rail kicks on one of the tables off to the side of the room. Not with a pool cue. He was literally kicking the cb with the heel of his shoe, sending the cb 3 rails to the corner-he was like 7 for 10 while I saw him doing this.

I tried this later-and hurt myself.

A hat might help my game. Something has to.

Take care

Rich really is a class act. Every year I go to the BCA Nationals in Vegas, I can find him playing on the action tables in the exhibition area. He probably pays for his trip and then some.

Other fixtures in that area are Ike Runnels and Sebastian Franco to name a few.

It's always fun to see who is matching up out there.
