Pool wars & Running the Table

It's been a while, but if I remember right, I wasn't a fan of Byrne's writing style in a storytelling setting. It seemed like it kinda rambled, and I just couldn't get into it. I read the whole book, but it's one of the few in that vein I never wanted to go back and re-read.

To each his own. Bob wrote the book from the tapes of McGoorty telling his own story. I personally think it's the best book of that type I've ever read as far as the writing goes, anyway. I have the original first edition and the Dover reprint, both autographed by Bob Byrne. The Dover edition has been read over and over and lent to friends who aren't players and they loved it. I just bought a digital edition for my Nook HD. I'm sure it will remain a classic.

I have been looking at the Mcgoorty books but trying to figure out if the book was published with 3 different covers or if there us more than 1 book on Mcgoorty by Byrne. There are at least 3 different titles that I have found so far
