Pool's not in the dumps because of bad behaving players...(Long)

I"ve said this for years...

Part of the problem with pool on tv is that when done at the highest levels it looks too easy. While pool players can understand the skills involved a casual viewer never would. What gets more attention in a football game the 3 yard run up the middle or the "circus catch". In pool there are virtually no "circus catches". Just my opinion

When pro pool was on tv virtually ALL errors were edited out. Almost all other sports on TV showcase the fubars... not pro pool... People watching at home couldn't possibly even think about having the willing suspension of disbelief in regards to their ability to EVER have done what is shown on tv.

Not true for most sports. While the average high school footballer COULDN'T ever do what the NFL players do, there is the ability to suspend that knowledge and fantasize about being able to do that.

The way pool has been shown only top short stops could ever hope to even fantasize about doing that.... especially not your average banger...

All this negativity is whats killing pool, or its potential. We have to accept it for something special first, and then market it properly like Jaden said. There are thundreds of players in each city. Many are FANATICS. I really like the idea of forming city teams. If you don't think mosconi cup was exciting...well I don't know what will excite you.

With the streams and pay per views now days, who wouldn't want their name or emblem tatted across a flyer?

I have absolutely no idea about business or marketing but, it just all sounds so simple.

If we get a tournament like that of Swanson in LA where they charged 5$ a pop to get in....how is possible that we can't get a 500$ sponsership from a local business to brand the banner?

On that topic, most sports (big time sports anyway) aren't edited at all, therefore all the mess ups are part of the action. One of the big problems with editing pool for TV like ESPN does for example, is that all the suspense is edited out of it (ignoring for a second the fact that isn't even live so the results can already be known). I could watch an old WPBA event on ESPN and not know or remember who won when I'm tuning in. But at 5 minutes to the hour I know who wins unless it happens to go hill-hill. In a live, non-edited event like a stream, the suspense is there because we all know that regardless of the score a good player can potentially make a comeback.
