Porper B Model Router Adaptor / Holder for the Tool Post.

Hello AZ, I have owned a Porper B Model Lathe now for approximately two years. Now first let me say I love this machine and I would not trade it for anything, but like all good things it can always be modified to the needs of the user. One of the harder projects was turning square stock to round, if the square stock was not exactly 1.5 x 1.5 square. This was due to the Router mount for the tool post, having too small of an opening. I recently contacted a friend who has been a machinist for many years and gave him an upgraded design, which he has reproduced to my specifications which will allow much larger square dowels to be turned on this machine. While not taking away from safety features built into the original design. This is the first of many modifications I am making to my machine, and as these are completed I will offer them to the AZ community at a decent price. At this point I am trying to see if there is any interest, and that is why no price for this mount is listed.

What other mods? I pm'd you. It's a cool idea to offer mods & upgrades for this machine. Good luck with it.
 
I bet Eric has a ton of mods in mind, as would Mr. Webb.
I don't use a Porper now (you never know what the future brings), but good luck with the mods!
 
Put an AXA quick change tool post on it and mount the lam trimmer to that like many do on big lathes. The QCTP is a nice addition. You may want to look at what he wants to make the spacer block to get the tool post to the correct height.
 
If anyone else is interested mounts like the taller of the two pictured will cost $150 plus shipping.
