Has anyone else had a problem with using the cut rite on a layered cue tip?

I recently installed an ultraskin VS on my OB130 and it seems like the tip is too thick for the cut rite to trim all of it even with the ferrule. I end up with a little lip about the thickness of a nickel right infront of my ferrule.

That tool is meant to trim the mushroom off an already installed tip. It is not meant for trimming a newly installed tip.

Yes and no Kim. If you watch Seyberts Tip video, they use it for the final trim, but, they use the small Mushroom Grazer to do the initial trim just because the Cut Rite won't handle a full size tip.

Also, one has to be careful to hold the tip in the Cut Rite properly, otherwise it comes out looking cone shaped. And that is probably why it is best used for Mushrooms only.

The Nickel Trimmer works excellent tho.

When I hand tipped, I used the Grazer as you can set it to trim the tip and not touch the ferrule. After Coning a Tip or two, I learnded my lesson.
