Practice Game

I'm sure versions of this are already out there, but this is a game that I like to practice either by myself or with a partner.

Rack all 15 balls and break. Any ball made on the break gets spotted, but you get to keep shooting. All balls are worth 1 point.

Points can only be made by shooting combinations, billiards, caroms, or banks (all shots must be called and made cleanly) and you can't shoot the same type of shot in a row. So if you combo for a point, you can't combo the next point.

Any foul (not hitting a rail, ball going off the table, scratch, etc.) will result in a loss of point, and ball in hand behind the line. A ball will also be spotted.

You can then play to a designated number of points.

Fun little game that I think increases creativity, and lets you try shots that you may not otherwise be comfortable with in another game.

You ever try straight pool? It's the original one-point-per-ball game, and it's all the champions used to play 50+ years ago.

Something I noticed... "all shots have to be made cleanly"...
it's your game so it's your choice how to play it, but requiring balls to go in clean is usually a bar rule. Official rules for 8 ball, 9 ball, 10 ball, straight pool, etc. don't require that.

Yeah I play straight pool quite often, although not very well. As far as the shots being made clean, I just took that from bank pool. Obviously these aren't sanctioned rules, so you can mix it up however you like.

I play a version of that, it's called kisses, caroms, banks and kicks. It is fun and you get practice at all those shots you dont "normally" take. Essentially you can play a shot any way you want but is CAN NOT go straight in a pocket; if it does it is a foul. I will try this one it sounds like fun.

I like Fargo and the Brainwash drill. The only "problem" is that neither game (especially brainwash) forces you to come with specialty shots.

And thanks Krupa for pointing out Honolulu. I just found out it's in VP3, so I played a little bit last night. It's very similar except in Honolulu you are allowed to kick a ball in, so that could be added to "my" game.

The biggest difference is that in Honolulu you can shoot any type of shot over and over and again.
