Predate SW shaft

I know the ferrules are not micarta.
the cue was sold as a predate :

Pin hole really has no bearing on 'predate' status. If the cue is a 'satin' cue, it would not be dated even if it were made during the predate era.
However, I am not sure if we are talking about a shaft, or the whole cue pictured so I won't throw out any values yet....

I was interested in selling one shaft and was wondering the values, but as long as it was brought up, I wanted to clear up the predate thing. I don't believe it is a "satin"

Best way to clear up any issue with it being a pre-date is to ship it to Laurie for authentication. It used to be around $75 and take 10-14 days. Money well spent.
A new SW shaft was $275 about 4 years ago when I had to replace one and it took around 6 months to have built. I think they are around $350 now.
I would think that even a 12mm SW shaft (if it was made by SW and not by someone else) should bring $150-175.

Ya think maybe Ed Young & DPK could tell a Predate ???? Seeing without DPK there probably would not have been a Franklin as we know today.
Also I never saw a Satin with block ring work- all the ones I have seen have had the single ring....FWIW

Tom: Yeah, I liked the confirmation from Ed Young. I don't think DPK actually saw the cue. But now that someone brought that up, I was wondering how you knew before Ed looked at it. Just by looking at it?

I can't believe you got rid of your Ed Young. That cue hit so nice.

For the record, this pin-hole has no bearing on predate status. The current pin-hole predates the 'predate' concept. Concurrently, both pin-holes occurred during the 'predate' era. The only thing like this that can be said, is that the OTHER pin-hole assures predate status, and then some..
