Predator 1080 Chalk...

If these turn out the way I want them to, they're going to be very nice. I will offer the option of adding a stick, like a pocket chalker...while I prefer just the sleeve itself.

If all goes as planned, I should have them ready in time for Christmas shopping. :yeah:

Christmas is still so long. :(

And if the product turns out to be better looking than prototype, by the time it reaches my country, Christmas is over. :(

I'm going to try and have some ready to go by mid to late October. I have to order some findings next week.

Found a small piece of natural tanned deerskin that someone else before me tried to do who knows what. I found a better purpose for it! ;)

Tried it out last night. Super soft and grippy. Really pleased how it turned out. Soon as I get paid again, I'll be on the hunt for more deerskin scraps!

I think it's great as is . I'll buy one when you have stock, black with blue thread no stick or lid is perfect. Good luck Bob J.

...Holder

Sat down today and noodled out a template, then hand-stitched this up. I think it turned out pretty sporty on the first attempt. My fingers are killing me, so may need to invest in sewing awl. Also, before anyone thinks about stealing my hard work, I'm claiming copyright on it.

Nice work

I'll let you know as soon as I have one done. Thank you!

I like the black and blue one a lot better.

I just took a square rubber chalk holder and rammed the 1080 in there and it fits really snug.

Which I am sure some do. But why not use a holder actually designed to fit the chalk? One where, as the chalk wears down, you can throw a quarter or similarly sized washer in the bottom of, to raise the chalk inside? One that can be identified as uniquely yours?

Good point. I have been cutting chalk down with a band saw for years as it wears down. I hate a big hole in piece chalk. I then sand the top of the chalk and create a nice dimple just the way I like it.

YOur chalk holder looks GREAT.

that being said, if you wanted to create an "identifier" that is inexpensive, unique another idea is to create octagonal disks of leather and tool the initials of the person on the octagonal disk which would be glued to the bottom of the chalk. Probably a lot less expensive to create, not as pretty as yours but might get more than sore fingers as a reward. Probably have to find the BEST GLUE for gluing the leather to the bottom of the chalk. Just don't know if it would last.

The more I think about it, I like your attractive looking option because money is secondary as far as pool accessories are concerned.

I like the snooker style leather pouches for holding the chalk. Mine came apart recently and am waiting for the glue fairy to put it back together.

Thanks JoeyA...your comments mean a lot! The nice thing about the sleeves, is that they will work in a chalk pouch...they make gripping the chalk much easier. I added the horn/bone hair pipe beads for those who want the more traditional pocket chalker option. I personally prefer just the sleeve myself.
