It always amazes me when someone has a real nice custom cue, and wants to put a factory LD shaft on it because they are the trend. Why have such a nice cue and put a shaft on it to change the way it plays?

But to answer your question, yes, you'll notice a difference.

There for sure is a difference.
Good, bad, is subject to the player.
I would suggest you find someone that has one that fits your cue to try.
If thats not possible try one on a cue that is similar to yours.(weight and joint material).
314 pre cat, 314 cat, 314-2, 314-3, etc all play a bit different.

Bill Stroud of Josswest developed the Smart Shaft.

As far as I know that is what he is using today on one of his own cues. Though I could be wrong. Maybe he will chime in.

Personally, I don't dig laminated shafts. But if somebody wants to try one, I say go ahead. I don't care what kind of cue they screw it onto.

Why try it? Maybe he will like it better. Just a thought.

I guess asking in a forum is something I understand less. But it could be worse. It could be a thread about Justin.

Trend? OMG, yes, LD shafts must be a trend. Only 20+ years and millions sold.

Please......

I would suggest finding someone with the same tread as your JW, put it on and run some balls. If you like it, buy one.

Don`t you have any players or friends that can let you try whatever shaft they are playing with?
I`m not a huge fan of laminated shafts and the durability of Predator shafts are quite poor, considering how expensive they are. 314³ are a step in the right direction compared to 314².
But you should try other shafts too, so many good shafts out there.
