I know that the 314~2 has less deflection.
My question is for people who have used them both.
Is there a noticeable difference between the two ?
If so, what are the pro's & cons of each.
Thanks

I have hit with both. The difference in deflection is minimal and very hardly noticeable in my opinion. I felt the 2nd generation shafts hit a little softer than the first gen's but with good choices of tips you can pretty much eliminate the differences between the two shafts.

Just two cents worth.

I played with a 314 for a long time and then while in vegas for the APA I got to shoot with a 314-2 and i thought it was close to the same that I got the z-2 and I love it!

Side by side box stock I could tell a diffrence on my uni-lock Lucassi. And I liked the early 314 better. I dont know that it actually is but I know the taper on the 314 felt diffrent from the 314-2. Also I think the original hit better. JMHO

The early 314 has better quality wood maybe due to the fact that is was made in USA. The newer generations starting with the cat logo and 314-2 are all made in CHINA. It is likewise mass produced due to the rise in the popularity of predator. 314-2 has lower deflection and thats a fact but low defection doesn't mean one will play better with it. Most players are used to some amount of deflection and to eliminate it maybe more counterproductive in one's game. I say, choose the shaft that plays natural to your game even if it takes buying as many as 10 shafts..... or just learn to play with what you have.(talked to Dennis Orcollo last week, he told me he had at least 11 shaft changes before he found the right shaft for him) Hope this helps your mind.

I have tried the 314, 314 2, the z and z2. Have to admit I only noticed differences between the 314 and z...nothing really between the upgrades.
I agree with the difference in quality because I've heard alot of complaints about the construction of the chinese made shafts. I personally like the Annie O shaft but even so I play with straight maple.
