Predator Air?

I have one and I like it very much, it makes jumping effortless. The only problem I have is I don't get it out all the time , I just grab my j/b and use that. But it is worth the money if you are going to use it. I guess Im lazy at times:wink: I can jump ok with my j/b anyways but if I have to do a long jump to pocket a ball I will take the time to have it ready, especially if the $$ is on the line !! << ED

WOW, tastes are different.
I had one for about two months until last friday - i crushed it, and sorry but
that in my mind is the best what you could do with it.
Effortless ? That cue is so light that you have swing extremely fast to make a nice jump.
I had many different jumpers over the last ten year, but the only one
i would describe as effortless would be my Gulyassy.
And that means doing nothing more then let the cue fall into the ball.
But like i said in the beginning - tastes are different

They do a pretty good job for very close jumps, because they're so light, and for very long jumps because you can use them with a regular grip & swing harder. I recommend chg'ing the phenolic tip to a Samsara JB tip (I don't think there's enough control with phenolic or G10).
On balance, I think they're too light for the "normal" jump ranges. You just have to use too much force - meaning getting more of your arm/shoulder involved & losing accuracy.
My X Breaker w/ Samsara JB tip does anything I really need - and better than I can do it with consistency. I just believe you need to be judicious with jumping. Some folks should spend more time learning to kick effectively.

Predator Air

I tried one at league one night and the next day an AZer had one for sale so I bought it.

Changed from a jump break to a seperate jump & break.
I think it's terrific, I like the 3-piece design and I've actually made a few balls with it.

It does the job but i wouldn't say its noticeably better than most other jump cues.

Air

I bought a BK 2 and got a free Air with the purchase of the BK. I can see why they were giving them away!!! In comparison to my Stinger there was no comparison. You can jump balls with the cue but for me the ball being jumped had to be within a foot, foot and a half of the cue ball. I ended up sending both cues back as I did not see a significant difference over my Stinger as far as break cues. In my opinion there are much better jump cues on the market than the Air.

I've been going back and forth between the Air and several other jump cues for the past year or so. I can never get the Air to work for somewhat reason.

I currently use the jump cue from a Jump/Break Poison VX2.9 and I'm very happy with it. As a back-up, I have a Star Lizard jump by McDermott which has a bigger tip (14mm) and I find it very usefull for longer jumps.

I guess it's about personal preference at the end of the day and what works best for you.

Many people here in Toronto use Bunjee jump cues and they are very satisfied with the results they're getting.

I have been using Air for few months now and after a few asjustments and practice it has started working really well for me.

They are junk, run the other way. You don't have to buy my jump cue, but the only reason to buy a predator air is if you shoot with a predator cue, break with a predator bk, and just want to complete your set. I've talked quite a few players out of them just by letting them try them out, and compare to others. Seriously I talked to one of the main guys at predator and he said they are just trying to make some money in that area of the market.

I'm not knocking predator them selves they do alot of good for the industry with there sponsorship of tournaments and players. But the jump cue is a $ gimmick plain and simple.

I'm a fan of the air. It's all in the wrist. After a year of practicing with other jump cues, i switched to a predator air. It took a while to get used to, but now i just hold the cue with my thumb/forefinger and an air bridge then with a slight pop of the wrist i can clear an object ball that's less than a ball away...Just like everything that Predator has put out, it's different, you gotta get used to it

IMO the worst jump cue on the planet. Just too light and it has a "plastic" feeling. I wouldn't use it if someone gave me it for free. Try it before you buy it:smile:

I'm most def. a fan of the Predator Air.

Wow, there are allot of mixed emotions about this cue!

The big difference with it is that it is light. Really light!

I made a few jump cues a while back and made them very light. At 41", mine was about 4 ounces! It jumped great, once you found the sweat spot. If you didn't find the sweat spot, you would look like an idiot trying to use it!

The light thing is interesting. Most jump cues are actually high cue ball squirt or deflection. This make it easier to get over the interfering ball, but also makes accuracy an issue. The only way I found to make a LD cue jump, was to make it really light. It's actually a great combination. Once you find the sweat spot, jumping is easy, and the LD properties make it easier to actually make the ball you are shooting at.

It takes a different stroke to use, but for me it works very well. I only wish we could build them cheaper, or sell them for more. As it is now, I can't make a profit building them.

So, if you have a chance to try the Air, give it some time and try different aiming points on the cue ball. There is a sweat spot there, and you will like it if you find it.

Wow Royce, that's a great way to put it...:clapping:

It took me 2 other tries to make that shot...I'm in no way a master at jumping, but i'm leaps and bounds ahead of where i was 6 months ago. Don't rush out and by one just because everyone (including myself) says it's great, but def. pick one up for a bit and tinker w/it. It's a new experience.

I am NOT a fan of the predator Air.. Actually I do not know anyone personaly who likes it... I know only of one player that uses it..

I just do not think that i does enough compared to how much energy I use. Also when using english with it, it just does not react enough compared to the one I use.
