PREDATOR ARCOS II Question

I've looked and could not find an answer. I know Aramith makes the Predator Arcos II balls but do they use Aramith DURAMITH as they do in the Aramith Tournament balls?

I haven’t found any documentation that says they use Duramith. Not saying they don’t but whatever it is they certainly play very well. They just make references to special formulas.

That's what i heard when they first came out. Since then i read somewhere, Seybert's i think, that they use a just-for-Predator phenolic resin that's even harder. T/F? No clue but Predator's description about less skid and static build-up lead me to believe they use Duramith technology. I really like the looks of these myself.

BEST ANSWER: No, they do not. Predator came up with a proprietary formula that surpasses Duramith technology making Arcos the best-constructed balls available on the market today

Not true. After all, internet. While I cannot answer OP's question for certain, I would say, at the price of the Arcos balls, they are made with the Duramith phenolic.

I agree. Maybe 'Duramith.2' Unless Predator paid them a BOATLOAD of $$ i don't see them developing a new formula. They may have slightly tweaked the Duramith, who knows.

Curiosity got me so i contacted Aramith/Saluc in Belgium about this. Their response is the Arcos2 balls use the SuperAramithPro formula. I thought for sure they were Duramith but they said that blend is reserved for the top 'Aramith'-brand balls.

While we're at it, are the Aramith Black Tournament Set made with super pro formula or duramith?

From the website:
"Aramith Tournament "Black" TV Ball Set - Cut back on those pool ball marks on your pool table. The Aramith Tournament "Black" Ball Set has a brand new design produced specifically for TV and to cut back on pool table burn marks with their Duramith Technology."

If the Arcos II balls use the Super Aramith Pro formula it would seen that the Aramith Tournament balls are a step above the Arcos II balls.

Looks that way. Or we could go all 'tin-foil hat squad' and guess that Predator paid Saluc to tweak the SAP formula and keep it quiet.;) I've played with both sets and can't tell any difference in how they play. Duramith's are said to leave fewer burn-marks and skid/kick less.

And here I am completely happy with my Dynasphere Tungsten and Aramith Premium sets. I feel like such a pleb in comparison. 🤣

WOW! You mean were paying all that money for Super Aramith Pro!!!!

I'd rather have Dynaspheres.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your e.mail.

The Aramith pool ball sets come in different types with different specifications.

From low end to high end :

- Crown Standard set uses our basic "Premier" resin, and contains some second quality balls (slight cosmetic defects that don't affect playability).
- Premier set uses the same Aramith Premier resin as the Crown Standard. All balls are first quality and the cismetic is different
- Premium set uses the Aramith Premium resin, a higher end resin creating a vitrification layer which is a translucent and very hard external layer. For this reason the numbers look a little bit fuzzy.
- Super Aramith Pro sets use the Aramith PRO resin, featuring a deeper vitrification layer. In addition the sets are matched to minimize the weight difference within a set.
- Tournament sets use the same Aramith PRO resin, but are produced using a proprietary technology called Duramith, allowing a longer lifetime.

The BLACK set belongs to the Aramith Tournament family. The Arcos II set is made for Predator with the same specifications as the Super Aramith Pro set.

More information is available on our website : www.aramith.com

So I guess that settles it. Aramith says their Tournament family is from the highest end of their product line and the Arcos II just a level below. Yet I can buy the Aramith Tournament set for $110.00 less than the Arcos II set. Not something I'd do but each of us has our preferences.
PS: I'm a big fan of Predator products.

Speaking of price disparity, my Tungstens have held up just as well as my Premiums despite significantly more usage. Going back in time, I definitely would have just gone with 2 sets of Bronze.

Thats a nice little royalty to Predator, probably similar to Centennial's to Brunswick

Exactly what i was thinking. B'wick Cent's are $500 full retail. Around $400 or so street price. Same deal, paying for the name. And that cool cat on the balls. ;) I do like these but wouldn't pay what they're asking.
