Watching the matches, a couple matters should be considered.

The 9' tables should..... NOT have dark shadows under the cushions.
The seated player should/must be able to look down at the play surface when seated.
The room lighting needs to have more separation of components.
(players, table, rail seating).

That's a few, not a couple.

1) it's not too pretty, I agree
2) I agree but it looks like they can see enough and are not bothered enough to suggest it's a problem
3) this is a professional sports competition, not a pool match at a bar or a casino. The lighting is perfect. I would die for that lighting as a player. Like most players under the Sun (no pun intended), I play better with daylight.

Welcome to the future
Its Simonis' new 'Woke Grey' cloth. Said to be gender neutral and non-binary. ;) I fkng hate it. I just can't figure out why EF thinks she has to re-do every aspect of the game. Funky-ass balls and cloth are lame imo. People pay to watch this crap?? I'll take the Predator ProSeries every time, spot shots and all.

Grey cloth has been around for years. It looks good. Imho, it's the best colour for a bar cloth as it blends right in, and green and blue both look a little over-stated. It seems to be working pretty well on TV too.

I've never seen any pool played on it til MR adopted it. Been playing 40+yrs and have never encountered it. Only green and then blue in last 20yrs or so. I don't like anything about it. Just more of EmilyF. and MR piss-marking their territory.

You should get out more.

Arena looks fine. Except:
-Little player chairs should be replaced
-Lehmann breathing
Though he has a fan. He should consider doing sideline making ASMR vids

YT shows one table.
Thank you, I already found it. I cant say that I hate the gray but I can say that it does not look good at all. All I can say is that EF did this to stand out from the rest that is definitely not how I would choose to make a statement or try to be unique. Its the equivalent of BMW purposely building the ugliest car to try to stand out from the rest. Pool on TV or video has previously always been vibrant and attractive to view regardless of which ball set is used, the gray is anything but, it even seems to mute the color of the balls.

I played on the yellow/orange cloth that was popular in some new rooms back in the 60's and 70's. I hated that cloth. It felt like the table was too bright, and for some reason I could not see the balls as clearly. Also played on red coth a few times. I would take grey over either one of them for sure. It actually didn't look that bad on TV, and the contrast with the ball colors seemed to be good.

Mosconi did an instructional video on that gold cloth. I think it was part of Brunswick's makeover of pool halls into family entertainment centers. I remember playing on it around 1965. Definitely too bright. And I really dislike red chalk.
