predator ferrule

did predator ever use a 1 in ferrule,the shaft says 314,guy says hes had it for yrs since new,never changed ferrule,im just putting on new tip but im wondering if hes right or some other repair guy changed it
 
There were at least two versions of the first Predator shaft. The first just says "314" the second says 314 and has a picture of the cat. I can't speak to the ferrule lengths, but just wanted to give you more info. There was another version with a different number of "pie pieces." 10 vs 6, I think. KJ Cues can probably tell you anything you want to know about the Predator shafts.

This one just says 314,i put on a moori soft,guy wanted it cut pretty low,took it to basement,tried it out,i think it hits about as good as any preditor ive ever used,real solid hit

Falcon made some butts but i dont know where the shafts were made.Where are they made now

I'm not an expert on Them, but This was My understanding, that Falcon only Made some of the Butts. As far as I know Pred Made the shafts though. Of Coarse I could be wrong, but that's the way I always heard It, and I don't live far from Pred, so I saw a lot of the earlier stuff around here Back in the day when they started. I've met a few people over the years that were supposed to have worked there at one time or another too, that had confirmed that to me, but again I don't know for sure as I wasn't there to see with My own eyes.

Oh yeah I have seen the older ones with a 1" ferrule. Matter of fact I think My father use to have a couple of them, but has long since sold Them. I just never took to them like some people do, so I always stuck with standard shafts Back then Myself.
 
I've been a Predator fan and collector for years. The first butts that became Limited Editions I, II, III, VI, and V were built by Joss. Other cue manufacturers subsequently became involved, (Falcon Pechauer, Mezz, Samsara, etc). A few of the 1st year shafts were 6 pie pieces or even 12, but most were 10 pie pieces. I have 7 or 8 of the 1" ferrules on the first year Predator cues in my collection. IMO they were only available on the first year of production, however, there my have been some carry over not sold that were shipped out the 2nd year. I believe the shafts came only with the 314 printed on the shaft or butt with no Predator patented cat the 1st year also. Here are a few of my early Predators cues. Again, these are opinions, not the Gospel.

Also, please feel free to contact me if you find an early model Predator production cue available. However I'm not interested in beat up junk. (<:

Wow cool collection, Yeah some of those look like they are definitely made By Joss, and I can see the others mentioned in there. You can pretty much look at them and tell who made them by the different designs. I didn't realize so many different companies took part in making them, but for sure that looks to Be the case with Them.

Yeah the 1" ferrules I've seen just had 314 on them, no other logo or the cat on them like the newer ones.
