Predator sneaky Pete’s ain’t no sneaky pete

My father used to have a Budweiser cue. The thing was trash. Won it at a liquor store raffle. The thing sat on the rack at the home table for a long time. Not sure what ever happened to the thing.

that's my point. change the shaft to a predator 314, sand off the shaft logo and that's the best sneaky one can have these days.

What you are looking for is called a "true sneaky pete".
I sold one recently to a friend. I ordered it from Schmelke,
with NO LOGO and to my specs as for weight, tip diameter, taper, et cetera.
The main thing is tell David you want the dull, satin finish. There's no shine at all to it.
And, they play great and they're cheap, about $150 and you'll have it in about 2 weeks.

See now that’s cool. Someone sticking to the original idea. I’m not really looking for one to buy. I just came across a picture of predators newer “sneaky Pete’s” coming out and just came to mind that they’ve definitely ruined an original idea. Which I know predator isn’t the only one doing it that way. But to me sneaky’s should at a minimum be only wood to wood with no logo. Just to pay tribute to the original design.

How about one of those cues with flashing lights in the butt sleeve.
Worlds most annoying cue.
Not quite sneaky Pete.

Remember back in the 70's, or possibly early 80's in Racine, I think it was Sailors sneaky Pete's that were the rage there. Never did get one, but alot of locals did, looked just like a bar stick. I think they were $60 or $70 then. Wonder what they would be worth now?
Frank had an interesting career in pool. His first cues were 58 inches or less. Then later in his career he was building most of his cues 58 and 59 inches. I took a lesson from him which took most of one afternoon. Then he got hungry and I took him to a local buffet place he liked. His son Kelly met us there. Kelly made some cues as well. Never seen one myself. RIP to Frank Sailor Stellman. A very nice and unique guy!

We've entered the age of "alternative facts", or have you failed to notice? Words can mean whatever you want to believe now.
Facts and reality are now optional if you believe "your side" is right, and the other "side" is wrong.

I think the idea of being sneaky with a 2 pc custom house cue is a thing of the past. Everyone has a good or fancy cue today. Not like many years ago when most played with house cues.
You are 💯 wrong bud . I have a SugarTree Cue I use at home and at Big Tournaments but when I’m out running across this country playing 5 strangers per day and getting all the $ , I’m using my sneaky … It still goes down like it did back in the day , every bar / pool room has a local champion…. Sure I don’t win em all , just gotta know when to quit ! Win some lose some , it’s usually 7-8 out of 10 people get beat ….. Someone’s gotta swing those doors open , may as well be me !

Hey Gypsy, how are you?
I missed you in B'ham @ Iron City a couple weeks ago. My wife had the stent removed early the morning of Wednesday, Jan 5th
and I called you at 8:53 to see if you were there. You may have already been in a game.
Next time you come thru B'ham give a call or a message. Take care.

yea a budweiser cue with a LD shaft is a more credible sneak these days
Yeah, if someone is good enough to play for money then they probably know that quality cues of modest appearance are widely available. If I wanted to be sneaky I'd do exactly what you say, get a $50 cue that has $40 worth of flashy graphics and change the tip or shaft to something worthwhile. Nowadays sneaky Pete mainly means the traditional 4 point splice and no inlays. I still like the splice look even if I'm not trying to be sneaky.

Sneak up on them with a Dennis Murray sneaky.

Dennis Searing shaft on a Murray Tucker butt.

Just wait until they start selling Sneaky Petes with a carbon fiber shaft. :ROFLMAO:
Predator already does. I have a radial "sneaky" that came coupled with a revo. Sneaky's these days seem to just lack inlays that's about it. Really the idea of a true sneaky to me is kind of pointless anyway. Some guys play with $2,000+ cues cause they can and can't string 3 balls together and you got some guys that can run racks with a house cue or a lucky etc. I guess if your a true hustler maybe you can fool some people in cash games but the seasoned look of a well played shaft is a dead ringer your opponent shoots a lot of pool.

It didn't take long before SP became a knock. You saw a guy with a two piece house cue, nice ferrule and tip, good looking shaft, first thought was "Player".
Who spends hundreds on a cue that looks like that.
You were better off with a cue like the average guy used. An Adam's or low end Palmer in a box case. It says you like to play but puts you in a certain lesser class.

It was especially good if you are a very strong player who really wants to play the little better players. In other words, you hustle the hustlers.
You get a table and pull out that cheap cue and predictably you will get asked to play. It would happen every time.

Of course I am talking about a past time. Today every sucker has a fancy cue. In fact if they can't play they may be more likely to have a fancy cue.

I have one, it plays GREAT!! People say all the time, if you shoot that good with a house cue, I'd hate to see you with a personal cue LOL

And the legend of the sneaky Pete still continues. Why’s everyone say it’s a thing of the past when you clearly just stated a story showing it isn’t dead?? Lol. Sneaky Pete’s don’t have joint collars or ring work!! I’ll say it a million times. I hate when people take something and change it up where it no longer fits the original idea.
