Predator vs. Custom Cue...

I currently play with a Predator Sneaky Pete with a v2 shaft, but I've been looking into custom cues and trying to decide if it would be a good decision to move up. I was wondering if I could get some people's opinion on the comparison of the two?

Thanks in advance guys,
Alex

what he was trying to say is that you can have a cue made and have it fitted with a predator shaft.....either a 314 shaft or a z shaft. the v2 i think you are refering to is the 2nd version of either the 314 or z shaft. i have ALL my cues made with predator shafts.

I see. I was referring to the v2 of the z shaft, sorry. Can someone recommend a custom cumaker who would do a nice stick to work with a predator shaft?

i think you should stick with what you want unless you see something that works. i like the predator sneaky petes

most wont have a problem doing it but some wont do it at all. i am actually picking up a capone with a z shaft this weekend that i ordered a few months ago. i talked to samsara, they will do it also. lambros will not, and i got the impression he doesnt like to be asked.

Just about any custom cuemaker will make a cue with whatever shaft you like, whether it be a predator or OB-1, or some other shaft. You may also find a cue that your current shaft will fit on.

but you can get someone else to fit a 314 to the Lambros, that's what i have, not sure if Lambros would be happy to know it but i like the predator hit but love the custom work he puts in his cues best of both worlds.( but his cues with his shafts are one of the best hitting custom cues out there!!!!!!!!!)

I will go against what most others are saying and vote for custom makers cue the way it was made with a maple shaft. Especially if a maker is known for making cues with a specific "hit". If you are purchasing a cue from a maker for their hit, then putting a predator shaft will defeat that purpose. Basically you will have a custom butt that has the hit of a predator shaft.

But if what you are looking for is just a customized balance point, length, certain woods or a certain design; Then go right ahead and order a custom made butt with a predator shaft.

But my advice is to purchase a standard shaft from the maker ALONG with the matching predator shaft. If you ever decide to sell the custom cue, I dont think there will be as many buyers without an original maple shaft. In otherwords, you may just be reselling a custom butt.

Just some of my thoughts on the subject.

Hello Alex, If you like your Predator why look any further. I would not know how to begin to compare a Chinese made cue with a Custom American made cue, to me it really matters not what you play with if you like it.

I suspect that the main difference between the two would be material and craftsmanship. Also the fact that the Predator will not hold it's value long term, because it is a production cue made in China, and because the cues are over priced in the first place.

However, like some other posters have said if you wish to buy a custom cue you can always put a Predator shaft on it.
