Predator WPA World Teams Championship (10 Ball), 8-12 Nov, Puerto Rico, Winning Team $120K

While I agree that it's fantastic for the better player to help the others, the time for that is in practice. I don't know how much April asked for or wanted help, but I know while I was sitting there watching Shane direct and loom over many of her shots, I was thinking that I would be a tense, second-guessing, bundle of nerves in her position. (At least moreso than I am already.)

Sometimes, such as in matches, you just gotta let people play their game. To her/their credit, she won, so what do I know.

Are you there in person?

Round 2 (Round Robin Stage) in about 20 minutes
Canada v Austria

Indonesia v Japan

ok, yes it could possibly equalize between two teams, but then again rubilen is surely 750+ fargo and biado was up coaching her. i think predator/WPA didn't think this one through (or have a loophole in their rules)

Only 3 teams have 750+ female players Philippines, Taiwan, GB. Remaining teams have 750- female players so understandable they have this rule.
This rule though is not mentioned in their Rules & Regulations :D

i think it's an oversight. surely the idea is to have the women duke it out between them to see who the better player is, not have the men do their thinking. it's a world championship, not a coaching session

But they can also say it is a "Team" championship not individual championship  A Team championship that allows team bonding, mingling. And players playing singles in team event do deliver different performances from individual event.

That's how I see it, too.

However, there is no coaching in Family Feud.:ROFLMAO:

It’s kind of amazing that there isn’t one USA woman above 700. Our highest, Jennifer Baretta, is 680 but I don’t think she’s playing (pro) any longer.
I don't think there ever has been, except for Jean Balukus. Its weird, there were/are so many women playing in the US, and the WPBA was on ESPN much more consistently than the men over the years.

That’s because the women weren’t assholes that bickered with each other. They had a contract with ESPN because they could leave the competing at the table and focus on what’s best for the game when off. We aren’t good at that.

After 2 rounds (of Round robin stage), 3 teams are through to quarterfinals and guaranteed $12K each.
Unseeded USA are through after 2 superb wins over group seeds Philippines and Spain.
Taiwan and Austria are also through after thrashing Peru and Canada. They play each other today to determine who is 1st in their group. 1st place in group plays 2nd place team drawm from another group in the quarterfinal.
4teams- host Puerto Rico, Peru, Canada and New Zealand are out.
That leaves other 9 teams fighting for remaining 5 quarterfinal slots in final round (of round robin Stage) at 9pm today.
In Group A, Philippines will play Spain for remaining slot. Group B is still wide open. In Group D , GB Poland and South Korea slug it out for 2 slots

Probably.

But my point was with pro women consistently on tv in the USA for 20 some years, there was a lot of incentive/roll models for local girls/women to get into pool. They did get into pool a lot in the 90’s at least. But that was not enough for the USA to produce a 700 level player.

Is it the top 2 teams per group that advance? Or some other configuration like American Football playoff wildcards?

Live Final Round Robin matches @ 9pm

Philippines vs Spain

GB v Poland

If South Korea beats New Zealand, South Korea and loser of GB v Poland will have same points. Team that qualifies will be decided I believe on these tiebreakers
First the set differential
Next number of sets won
Then head to head result between the 2 teams
If Japan beats Germany and Portugal beats Indonesia , 3 teams will have same points
