Predictions for Earl vs. Mike?

you're kidding right. I saw Mike miss two shots in the same game. One reason I was trying to get a wager down on Earl after it started, cause Mike looked very week missing some shots.

I agree. Folks sometimes end up seeing what they want to believe, or at least what makes sense to them. Probably guilty of that myself. I haven't checked the stats yet, but neither player had his break dialed in and both missed plenty. Mike missed less.

Earl just wasn't into this match. It happens. I've seen Earl run though Mike like a dose of salts at Turning Stone, ran through the entire field like they were APA 5s. The man still has a world class game when he brings it.

Funny, Shane does Mike horsey-style on TAR, Jayson repeats the carnage, but then Earl beats them both on the 10 footer. And Earl spanked Mike good at the Ginky. He's an infinitely more nuanced and intelligent player than Mike, who just fires then in like a banger half the time. He's not a pleasant player to watch because he just doesn't want to play with finesse. He's a damn fine shot maker with great accuracy, but not world class yet IMHO.

You're certainly right that impressions from memory about stats are often way off.

You're right about neither player doing well on the break -- 20 dry breaks and 1 foul on the break out of 32 games. Mike made a ball 6 out of 16 (38%); Earl also made a ball 6 of 16, but he fouled on one of them, so his successful breaks were 5 of 16 (31%).

Mike had 3 break-and-run games (19%), whereas Earl had none.

Mike won 75% of the games he broke; Earl won 44% of the games he broke.

As to the misses, the fellow who only saw a couple for Dechaine was way off. My notes show 16 misses by Mike on open shots and 14 by Earl (surprising, eh?). I missed a portion of one game, so there may have been another miss by someone.

A telling factor was fouls -- 10 by Earl (including one on a break) vs. 3 by Mike. The opponent ran out in the next inning after 10 of those 13 fouls.

... Hate the ultra-tight pockets as well. Ends up looking like a missing contest with dry breaks.

On the stream today, Upstate Al said that the corners on the streaming table are 4 3/8". He got that information from the room owner.

Well, then, I guess it wasn't the pockets. I think 4 3/8" is a perfect size for players of this caliber. It was the size I voted for when they got rid of the tight pockets on the TAR table. Tight enough to challenge them, loose enough to cheat when they need to.

Anyway, some of the shots Earl missed had nothing to do with the pocket size. He didn't even get near them. Definitely way off his standard game IMO.

If those are the stats I guess I was way off. Maybe my standards for make able shots are lower then most peoples. Lol

Mike Dechaine

Anybody thinking Mike wont beat Earl again or take this event down PLEASE come to thr action room and bet me. I will take Mike over Earl if they play again and its streamed. Once the brackets are posted I will take Mike to go farther than Earl or we can bet Mike winning with odds. I will go 200 on each bet.

I like to make predictions like anyone else. If you think someone got lucky ,you should bdt against them.
