Prepay required for SBE 2011 Radisson Reservations.

I have stayed at the raddison 90% of the time but this year will most likely be the last. Giving them 500 bucks to hold my room is not going to happen.I made my reservation last year as i checked out and they didnt have my room for me this year til 3:45 pm (3pm is checkin time) and I showed up at 1pm and had to wait til then because people were late checking out. I'll be down the road about a mile and probally 200 bucks richer next year after 3 days. Its about principle...I have never canceled and besides they have a waiting list every year so its bullshit

I didnt read all of the posts so this might have been said. Is the Radisson making all reservations at all hotels nonrefundable now and making you pay for the entire time you will be there up front.

This is only occuring for the SBE dates at King of Prussia Radisson. Any other dates at this one is the normal "pay when you arrive" setup.

I have never stayed at the Radisson. I have stayed at the Scanticon and offsite plenty of times.

For convenience purposes staying at the Scanticon, which is just above the convention floor is best. I have not walked the hallway to the Radisson more than five times in 17 years and don't intend to start.

For a vendor it's the nuts to be able to go to your room and get more product, make your own food, chill out, coordinate with friends etc...

If I were going as a visitor but not a player then I probably wouldn't mind staying offsite. As a player I might want to be close to where I am playing.

Very few venues these days offer onsite lodging. I find it to be quite helpful. I used to stay at the Homestead Suites down the road and it was definitely cheaper at $700 for the week. It's probably higher now.

I can't recall that we have ever had reservations at the Scanticon where there has not been some issue. My advice is to get NAMES of who you talked to AND the confirmation numbers AND to call back a day later to insure that the reservations were properly entered.

I doubt that we will be prepaying for our rooms either.

Unbelievable!!!!

I called today to make a reservation for the SBE and was asked if I was with any group and when I told them I was with the expo I was told that I would have to prepay. I told the clerk that I thought that was unusual and to ask the supervisor if this could or would be changed. The clerk informed me that it couldn't be changed and that they were not going to change it in the future.
I called back a couple of hours later and when asked if I was part of a group I said no and was told there were no rooms available and that they were booked for the SBE.
I've never heard of a big hotel chain acting in this manner. If I was a vendor, I would be concerned about the turnout for this event, since it's obvious the hotel is discouraging reservations.

TommyT

I am in full agreement with you that the concept of prepaying for a room is totally unnecessary and unwarranted IMHO. In fact, I have stayed at the Radisson for the last several years and now that the hotel wants to charge me upfront is very troublesome. Not sure if I will be staying there next year. I have not yet made any reservations as I cannot come to grips with any hotel holding onto my money for a year in advance.

As long as people put up with this kind of treatment there is no incentive to change. I stayed at the Radison twice several years ago. The first time was not a good experience. I gave them a second chance the following years. No more. service is poor. Hotel in not well maintained.
If they keep filling up they don't care what you think.

The best way to get results on something like this is to contact the corporate office. If they get enough complaints about one of their hotels (particularly regarding the quality of service at an individual hotel) they are usually quick to look into it since the loss of business will hurt their bottom line.

There is a comment form on their website where you can issue feedback/complaints at http://www.radisson.com/customerservice/displayContactFormAction.do?emailCategory=hotel-question

We can talk about this issue all we want on the forums but the most likely way to get a hotel to change their policy is for the request to come from someone above them. I'm not saying this would for sure happen, but it is the most tactful way to express your complaints with some hopes of results.
