Presents I have gotten from AZ posters this year!

Have you ever met someone and felt like meeting them was a gift? I was fortunate in 2008 to count several of these occasions, so here is my "thank you" for these gifts.

1) Dinner with George Fels last January at DCC - George is my all time favorite writer about the world of pool. We had a raffle for a free dinner with George and Jay Helfert at last year's DCC and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank George for sharing an evening with us.

2) Dinner with Jay Helfert last January at DCC - Who knows more about the world of pool than Jay? Probably no one! So here goes a "thank you" to Jay for sharing some great stories and fine dinner conversation at last year's DCC. If you ever have a chance to hang out with Jay, you won't regard the time spent.

3) Dinner with Fatboy last January at DCC - Eric was unable to make the dinner with George Fels and Jay, but he made up for it by hosting a dinner a couple of days later and by giving me a tour of his fabulous estate in Las Vegas last summer. Eric is unfailingly polite and fun to hang out with. Thanks, Eric!

4) Thanks to Jack Lee for his friendship and for showing me his amazing collection of pool cues.

I'll bet several of you have similar "thank yous" you could give out at this time of year. Feel free to tack some of them onto this thread.

That was fun and a great dinner. The best part was when I tried to slip Bill a "Benjamin" to help out with the tab, and he refused it. :thumbup:

I would like to personally thank the following people -

Danny Harriman - for taking the time to share his 280 ball run with the world. Danny is a great player and a great teacher, and anybody that has not sen this run - go out and get it - I'm not trying to fill Danny's pockets - I am just pointing everybody in the direction of some great learning material from a great player and a genuinely good man.

Dennis Walsh - Thank you for everything that you have helped me with over the past year - all the videos - the support - that really means a lot to me. I value our friendship immensely, and if you ever need anything, do not hesitate to call.

John Schmidt - For everything that you do in and out of pool - you really have a gift for representing our sport positively, and I hope that the business end of it and the lack of money does not pull you away. You are good for the game of pool, and you are good for the business of pool. You have such a positive impact wherever you go - and no matter who you meet.... and last but not least - thanks for the "Insulation" post - i pisss my pants everytime I read that.

Jon and Royce - Thank you for the OB-1 shaft. Even though I had problems with it, you guys stepped up to make the situation right - and that says a lot about you. Thank you!

Shane Sinnott - For being a class act and showing everybody how to handle public criticism in the correct manner. You are good man, and people could learn a lot by just watching the way that you conduct yourself and your business (Platinum Billiards).

Neil Fujiwara - For showing the world that no matter how bad things can get, there is always a recovery for those people that have a fighting spirit and an immeasurable desire to win. Congratulations - you have inspired more people than you realize.

bfdlad - Thank you so much for everything you are doing for the players and the fans that wish to see them. Your sacrifices have not gone unnoticed. You are a true gentleman, an asset to the game, and a lot of people in pool could learn from your work ethic. Thank you for all you have done!

Steve Lipsky - For all that you do in the Straight Pool Forum. You are definitely the MVP over there. I look forward to every one of your posts - and I value every bit of knowledge that you have passed on to me and many others. Keep up the great work, and get to work on that next 200+ run!

Joe Tucker - For generously sharing your invaluable knowledge and insight. You are truly the premier instructor in pool, and IMO, the best out there.

I would like to personally thank everybody that purchased a book from me, or took a class, or attended one of my workshops over the past year. I can't name everybody, but I would also like to thank Scott Lee, SpiderDave, Marcus Norwood, Colin Colenso, Tony Crosby, Dr. Dave, Corey Harper, JoeyA, Jay Helfert, Fatboy, JimS, Magix, BigTruck, Smorg, for all that they contribute to this forum. Their knowledge and their friendship has positively effected me away from the forum as well.

I was so embarassed I couldnt make it to that dinner. I had a Federal Court date, we were the plaintiff and I had to fly out to Vegas for the day, it was impossible to get back in time. Still I gave my word and Mr. Fels was there, I let everyone down, even though I was just going to listen more than talk I was invited as a special person(my interpetiton of the invitation), I'm very sorry to everyone who was there.

We did go out a couple nights later-I did most of the talking, I wanted Mike and Bill to know me a bit more and I was all excited just to be out doing something as I had been couped up in bed for over a year at that point with back probs(I'm better now-somewhat).
