Prewitt Cues

I need a little schooling on Prewitt cues. I really like what I've seen, but how in the hell do these plain cues comand such pricing and respect. Who is this guy, where is he from, and who has he worked with ? I'm not being a smart ass, I just don't know anything about him and am curious. I like the classics, Szam, Tad, Schick etc. It's really hard for me to believe these cues are priced in the same league. I would like some input from the boards and would like to try one of these cues, but at these prices I fear getting stuck with it If its not my thing. Please educate me.

Eddie's a master machinist. He's a mechanical genius. Much like Ernie G.
His cues are beautiful. They have their own look. His silver work is second to none.
His cues are built solid and they hit great.

I'd like to add that Eddie uses only premium materials and strives for natural balance in each cue (no weight bolts and usually no weight stud at all). Most of the few cues he makes each year (35-40) go to Japan and Taiwan. The good thing about his cues is that they command decent resale relative to many other makers. If you get interested, give me a holler. I have 3 left in stock now and am expecting another group early next year.

Prewitt

I personally play with a Prewitt and love it (used to play with a Tad). Dave Hemmah, Tang Hoa, Ron Marshall, are all LA players that love his hit and design. When I talked with Ed, he always emphasized how he wanted a unique and very difficult style to copy. I showed my fancy cue to Shawn Putnam, pro player and cuemaker, at the US open and he was in awe at his workmanship and the perfection to which he made it. My father Ernesto, is EXTREMELY tempted to get one too :D . I think he will. In my opinion, Ed is one of the elite living cuemakers as far as design and hit are concerned. But then again, I may be a little biased, but really, they are fantastic cues. Look at Lucky's website for more pics of some of his cues. I love going to Ed's shop and seeing all his cool toys. Martin (jazznpool) has some nice cues you should really look at. I also have an ultra fancy one in case your interested.

pricing aside, i think ed's work with MOP and minute inlays makes his cues difficult to dupe.

no website. call him in the (310) area code. he's listed, and you can chat. nice guy. he WILL send pics.

ask to see images of his all MOP butt,,,,his ivory with ebony basket weave design

you're in luck!!!!!!

i found the basket weave design and the all MOP butt, plus another.

it's hard to see, but in the basket weave cue,,,,there's tiny silver dots in between the ebony diamonds,,,and FOUR LEAF CLOVERS INSIDE THE DIAMONDS!!!!!!!! this is some tiny minute stuff!!!!

his MOP cuts are amazing. different chatoyance than any other MOP i've ever seen.

elegant simplicity is the only phrase that comes to mind

Bruin,

Did you get permission from JoeVan at classiccues before using his scans? Shame on you if you didn't.

Hope you know I'm just giving you $hit. Fairly certain that Joe won't mind you using his pics, but god forbide if it were someone else's pictures.......... LMAO :D :p :D

Ed does some AWESOME work btw, doesn't he?

well, i got these from ed when i first inquired about his work. :)

he loaded them up on one of those personnal image sites along with a dozen closeups and comparisons,,,like shooting his cut inlays next to eraser heads for scale.

Actually the left and right scan are from us. So Bruin may have gotten them from Ed, because I am sure they were sent to him, or maybe he got them from our site since we don't use right button disable.
