Price of 3M cartridge epoxy. Sticker shock.

Joey,
I'm not familiar with that particular product, but what application to you use it for and are there not suitable substitutes?

It's probably the strongest epoxy there is.
It can be used for ferrules, collars, joint pins ( will not blow torch easily though ) , A-joint, or buttsleeve .
There are cheaper alternatives of course .

Joey's right, the scotch weld DP series, 420 or 460 is easily the strongest epoxy I've used.

The LocTite's are good, but not as strong as the DP's.

With that said, we don't really use it that much. If your parts fit right, and you have good processes for your epoxy, then most good brands are more than sufficient.

It also comer in larger containers which cost about half volume wise (but I'm guessing
that would take you too long to use up).

Not really my area of expertise but isn't the 3M 490 about twice as strong?

Not likely.

Just thicker and in black .
Nothing is twice as strong as DP-460 afaik.
As Royce mentioned, it's pretty strong .
Strong enough to be on golf driver's face.

DP420 and DP460 are pretty much the same stuff, just different working times. Either 20 minutes or 60 minutes.

The DP490 is a thixotropic paste. I'm not that familiar with it, but don't think I would like it for cues due to it's thickness.

But DP420 and 460 are stronger than goats milk! I've not ever seen it break before whatever it was holding together broke.

I looked up the manufactures specs on both the 3m and Loctite and am wondering how you guys determined that the 460 is stronger. If you compare the numbers they are pretty close in spec.
