I have what i think is a Joss, jsw 07 cue?, dose any one have a clue on the original sale price or a ball park figure? I contacted Joss via e-m and they directed me to their archives section of their web site is where i found the model #, but no pricing, the cue appears to be in 98% pristine condition, it has one small dent in the hilt about an inch up, about two to three mm in diameter its the only flaw. any help would be great, thank you to those who reply

Well first off, what I can tell you is it sounds like your hoping it's going to be really high so I wouldn't get your hopes up for that. Second, if it has any dent whatsoever, you can forget that 98% part, that one small little dent will send you into the 80s. 98% is reserved for literally almost perfect cues with no dents or dings, shafts are clean and straight as an arrow barely played. If it really is the model you mentioned, joss's similar to that sell for around $200 bucks these days brand new. I am no Joss expert by any means, I am just going off what I have seen and what I have found. So if I am wrong, please, someone correct me.
EDIT: I hope you don't think I was trying to be rude or be a dick, I am just laying the facts out as I see them to be.

Joss cues are low end cues that warp and are virtually worthless to anyone other than the original owner. They hit ok, but warp like a Cuetec or China made Dufferin and there is NO warranty. As with everything else, let the buyer beware and in this case, especially if it has the name Joss on it.

I was very supportive of you expressing your bad experience with JOSS in the past. It was concise, subjective, and as far as I know honest. You said you told Janes you would relate your experience as often as possible and as I saw it that's what you were doing.

You have now degraded your position with a juvenile-like outburst. It robs you of believability. I would suggest that it probably does not contribute toward your goal.

If you were just feeling lazy and didn't want to type all that again you could have copied and pasted it from another post.

For the benefit of the original poster I will say that in the past you have related a very bad experience with a JOSS cue warping very badly and found no satisfaction in the matter after addressing it as a warranty issue with JOSS even after speaking with Dan Janes. Overall the matter seemed to go quite badly. I know that the story is much more effective straight from you and including the sordid details but I thought I would sum it up to give some background to the statements you made above, otherwise your credibility would suffer.

A Juvenile outburst might be "Joss Cues Suck." and saying no more.

I would expect no less of a reply from a Joss Cue owner. Varnish, inlays and a linen wrap does not make a warped cue anything other than a piece of junk.

i own 3 joss cues
one is from the 1990's
all of them roll straight together and apart
i live in fl a hot and humod environment
they play great and all of my interactions with dan janes has been very positive
to the op
id look up a similar model made now and its cost to give you a ball park idea of its original price
if 07 means 2007 prices cant have changed much in 5 years
its value used will several hundreds of dollars below new would be my guest
most joss do not appreciate or hold there value in the aftermarket

chopdoc is much more knowledgeable on this subject than me

Have it as you like. I have no horse in this race and am really not concerned about the value of JOSS cues. In fact, if you were successful in single-handedly trashing their value it would probably help me get another cue.

I was merely trying to help you and the case you are trying to make actually. Odd that I would do that as a JOSS owner? Perhaps for some, but not me. Many just jump on you for it, I never have.

I think your story needs told. But what you presented here is not that and is not in any way factual.

I tried to help you, now I won't do that again.

lets keep to topic
new threads can be started to finish old battles
just sayin

Wow !

Wow, the op didn't get much help.

If I could I would.

Dear OP,
Pics would probably help a lot.

Do not listen to this guy. He has no clue what he is talking about

The responses regarding value were quite helpful in general I would think, except of course where it was stated they were virtually worthless.

I actually try to stay away from value questions. It's a sticky topic.

It's easy to imagine that a cue such as that (plain) should be worth $150-$200 as a player. The condition is in question as was noted in the first response, but going by general response to open market sales such a cue is worth in that neighborhood I would say.

To give an overall sense of value for JOSS cues one should note they are made in a shop run by Dan Janes, one of the cue makers held in highest regard, a member of the Hall of Fame, and a historic figure in cue making. He still makes one of a kind and custom cues as well along with his son, who he trained. Two other great makers emerged from that shop; Bill Stroud and Tim Scruggs. JOSS has been a quiet but clear leader in cue development and technology as well. Recently, right here on AZB in the for sale section, I saw the offer of a Mottey cue in trade for a Dan Janes cue. That gives one a clue to the fact that Dan Janes is still, as he has been for decades, a leader among cue makers and among the best the world has seen. I would say that gives JOSS cues solid value. Oh....and they play great too, hard to beat one in fact.

Congrats on the Joss i can understand why you want to know what was the retail price. But your first mistakes was no pics posted !!!!!!

Even if your cue was in perfect condition it might not sell at the listing your looking for people are hurting today. If you like the cue its a keeper and that right there is priceless.

Eh what? I have a 15+ yr old Joss and it's dead straight in both shaft and butt. And I have kept the thing in my car trunk for a year at a time. The only time I have seen a bad Joss is when someone puts a 314 shaft on it that gets that lovely Predator bow that the company states does not exist or is the fault of the owner.

"low end" they are not. Cuetec's also don't warp they are fibreglass coated. They may have a hit that feels like a wet rag wrapped around a brick but they stay straight.

Joss is a great product

The guy knocking Joss shouldlisten to what I have to say. A few years ago (8) I beat a guy out of 5 or 6 Joss cues that all had minor problems with them thatr I thought might be costly to have fixed. I sent them all to Mr. Dan Janes, he fixed all the problems precisely, my cost - nothing. That to me was the first time in my life I seen such a great response from a business man regarding his product. I'm 67 years old and Dan Janes has me as a customer for all of my remaining years, I assure you !
