Pro Billiard Series - Las Vegas Men's Open 10ball live now

it's the CSI expo and league tourneys, pool player jamboree. that draws a lot of people and some of them watch the pro pool. they should build up better bleachers for final days though, more people deserved to see that filler v fedor match. jmho. maybe stu or bob jewett can give their opinion, but sure looked like more people wanted to watch

There were not a ton of seats in the bleachers and they would fill up at times. Some seats would not have a full view. But they were free. I saw Stu watching across from me one match but didn’t get to introduce myself. I also watched some on the outer tables. Had to stand for one but had seats for another. I like watching some of those matches and also sometimes watch a pro warm up or practice.

For me the event is good. I like watching to a point. I would not travel just to watch, but will watch some when I am there. I don’t know that is the best business model for them etc…. I will say that people would ask us about our cues and pool when they saw us out and about. (Did not get a room at the Westgate). They seemed to have some casual interest in it. We would tell them they could go watch pros for free. Dunno if any did, but for the ones who lived there it would be a good way to spend a couple hours.

I think a few of the matches could have filled twice as many seats. I think there were only 150 or so seats in each of the two arenas. Lots of people stood on the stairs or on chairs to peer over the railings. There were big screens to watch if you couldn't get a seat.

I heard that 12k league players were entered in various events with about 15k total entries. Not all were there at once.

fargo has always had a problem with fast improving youngsters. [...]
This is true. And there is another interesting thing about it.
People usually over estimate the size of the issue by an amount that is as big or bigger than the issue itself. So their guess ends up being more wrong than the Fargo Rating. As a rule of thumb, if you average the Fargo Rating and what everyone thinks they should be, you do pretty well. In this case, Orta's about 650 speed now.

The Teams tournament almost has a bit of a Mosconi feel to it. Not in terms of fan involvement/reaction, but the hybrid format. Pretty interesting.

Funny to see Team USA A and Team USA B getting matched up today.

Predator is definitely thinking outside the box. Good to see, even if some ideas don't pan out. They still do some 9 ball, but its focus is clearly on 10-ball and 8-ball, women's billiards and mixed events that involve men and women. Predator has largely ceded 9 ball to the WNT.

Looking at the calendar on the WPA site, the season is packed with events. There will be some conflicts, but not as many as I would have thought. Even if MR wanted to bring back the World Cup of Pool or World Pool Masters, it would not be easy to find a date.

I want to believe that WNT and Predator worked something out to allow some players to attend both the PLP and Vegas. That's good for the sport and players. If they did, maybe it should be made public for good public relations.

I think players are beginning to realize that they need both wnt and Predator to boost their income so it's not in their interest to foster any rivalry. SVB came out and flatly stated that he is playing whatever event he choose to, which is great!

Savannah Easton vs Hayden Ernst on Table 3 in 10 minutes. Should be a good one. No commentary.

there are things to like about his game, he's a straight shooter, but doesn't seem to adapt very well to different tables, and needs to work on percentage play and defence.

He’s 14. I caught flak for saying it was good to be a little cautious and not rush development. I think this is an excellent event for him. But he’s 14. Pros learn to adapt and learn defense. I was stunned to see some of the great defense on display at this tournament. I watched Ralf Souquet up close. Old pro. He is 57. Can a 14 year old get that experience? No. Souquet has over 40 years on him. Did I mention he’s 14. In the next 4-7 years he will learn a lot and improve given his talent and the experience I think he will gain. But for him it’s half a lifetime.

really, i thought he was in the 16-18 range. how old is savannah?

Ernst turns 15 at the end of April. He's had a big teen growth spurt in the last 18 months. Looked like a little kid before that. Because, of course, he was!

Easton turned 16 in February.

What happened? Can’t watch now etc…
She was in the middle of a set with Hayden(semi-finals?) running a rack and the announcer starts announcing usa(a) vs usa(b) . Says they are just waiting on one player so they can get the match going. He's right next to her and everyone knows who he's talking about. He may have said her name, I don't remember. Incredibly unprofessional in my opinion.

USA-A is dogwalking USA-B. No surprise there. After 7 games, USA-B gets their 1st point.

They've gotten 2 points now. Hopefully I've jinxed them and they can wake up and make a comeback.

1st set 4-0 to A Team
2nd set 3-2 in favor of A team currently

In other news: Tyler has switched to a CF shaft. I remember him playing with a wooden/kielwood shaft at the last MC.
