Pro level players that post frequently on this forum?

Well, if you are looking for an area where pros regularly hang in the pool room, I don't think it exists. They don't want to play each other all day, ha know?

That said, nyc and la seem to have a lot going on.

To me, this post is 1000% correct! This is why the American pros have lost there edge in pool against the world!

Imagine if pool players in America were playing like the pinoys??

Our closest player to Efren Reyes (for creativity) would be Corey Deuel. Nothing against SVB and Mike D. and JA, but they ain't there!

My favorite player is Corey, because of his creativity:)

Too bad these American pros don't play a lot of touring challenge matches! I think they could start something of a bunch of them set up a schedule to play at certain pool halls different times a yr all over the states!

Example, this Friday night SVB would play MD at snookers in Rhode Island! While I'm Houston, CJ is playing JA! On Saturday, Bergman will be playing Hatch in New York!

Something like that. Ya know, start a little fire and try to make something happen.

I think I'm A-player but that's just me. I really suck competitive but I can take anybody's money when gambling. Example; Ghost... ;)

true that brother...

There are a ton of A players that post on here. I'm definitely not a touring pro, but I am definitely an A player. I don't post often, but I read the threads that catch my eye. And I always have to shout out to my man Jaden. Funny game where sometimes you can meet someone one time and feel like you have a brother that you just don't get to see often. :)

True that brother... true that...

Tin man is one of those short stops.. Placed 13th in the open one year didn't you???

I don't know...

Jaden,

How good do you really play? You've referred to yourself as a semi-pro in the past.

Just curious.

Basementdweller <--- Definitely no shortstop here.

I've finished both the first seasons of the mezz west state tour in 12th(this last season playing half of it in a cast with a torn achilles). Oscar is on record saying I play more like a semi pro. I have wins against players like Rodrigo Geronimo without the spot coming into play...

You tell me.

I would be happy to just be around a really strong A level crowd of players. I remember when I was living in Chapel Hill NC (back in the early 2000's). That area had a pretty strong pool scene. I imagine NC still does have a really strong pool scene, but maybe not as great as it used to be.

well let's see then...

You could try LA, San Diego, Sacramento, Memphis, OKC, several places in Florida, Atlanta, MAnhattan...

There are a ton of cities across the country that are loaded with A and above players..

Wow, that is strong (13th in the US Open). Races to 11 or 13 are not short races, so I imagine you have to be a really strong player to get that far in the US Open.

It was either 13th or17th...

I'm sure he'll confirm, but he finished either 13th or 17th...

Yeah, Bergman posted on here awhile back, saying that Louisiana has a really strong pool scene (with the most action). I think I might like Louisiana (if it is not too crime ridden down there). Sorry for going so far off the original topic.

It would be really cool if many of the young touring players (like Bergman, Chip Compton, Joey Gray, and others) posted on here, maybe to tell what is going on and who they are matching up with next, but I guess that is what facebook is for.

It does...

How could I not mention New Orleans? Actually the suburbs of New Orleans are packed with good rooms, buffalo billiards, corner pocket... with good peeps, like Joey Aguzin, Hu, and JAmie Ferrell. Plus their rooms are open 24/7...I don't think buffalo's and corner pocket are even capable of being locked...

There's also a room in atlanta suburbs that;s open 24/7... I remember a bunch of us left MBC one night when they closed and then played till about 7 or 8 the next morning at some other room...

I need to start practicing again, all I've been doing is playing the mezz tour, a weekly one night a week (some weeks) and league night once a week on bar boxes. But one time at MBC JA and Kim Davenport call me over and Johnny says " I've never seen anyone practice as much as you do". I replied, "What about Shane?" and he said "Oh yeah, you're right"...lol

actually...

If you're looking to interact with and play against pros regularly right now, Cali is the place to be hands down...

With the MWST and the west coast swing I don't think you could be in a better place for pool right now...

Look at the MWST, you've got players like Oscar, Rodney, Vilmos, Mika, Ernesto, Beau, Amar, etc... playing in them regularly. Then you've got the champions like Efren, Bustamante, Edgie, etc... playing in them occasionally, then you have short stops and A players like Fach, Sargon, Dave Hemmah, Melissa Herndon Phil Prentice, HEnry Brodt, Brian Parks, and way too many to list...They had over 300 players this season and a good 100 or more of those were A players or above...

The MWST is one of the best things to happen to pool in a while and it has given the west coast a chance to showcase some of its talent

Wow, nobody mentioned our resident Doctor....?

Shame .....ding,ding,ding,

Shame.

And don't forget the Wacker of Bush.

Oscar is on record saying I play more like a semi pro.

I have heard this term "Semi Pro" used for my entire life,, and not just in pool but other things like Racquetball, Cycling, and such.

What in the heck does it really mean?

Does it mean someone plays in pro events but doesn't get paid?

Does it mean a person is at a professional level but can't support themselves financially by doing it?

I am not trying to be cute, but I really don't know what the term Semi Pro means?

Thanks,

Thanks,

I have always taken it to mean someone who can make money, but not enough to support himself, either because the market won't support it or because the skill isn't quite enough to be at the top ranks. These players need to keep a day job.

So the term Semi Pro would apply pretty much to everyone but like 3 people.
