Pro Skill Drills Preview

3 tips is about maximum......but you had better have a great stroke, and a well chalked tip.

1 tip will do fine for most any shots, and is sometimes too much.

in the book, i don't think they are actually saying that all those circles on the cue ball are full tips of sidespin, i think they are more like quarter tips in those pics.

good point though, i think i'll email and ask them if all those points are quarter tips or what.

When I talked to Tim about this, he said this was to represent the contact area of the tip and not the full tip diameter. I guess that’s obvious. But IMO, it is harder for me to judge this smaller area than seeing the full tip size and using half sizes.

Anybody want to compare Pro Skills with Blackbelt Billiards? There's enough torture in the latter to keep me tied up for years, I'm sure ... but if there are some interesting differences between that and Pro Skills, I can always make more room on the shelf.

Pro Skill Drills

Anyone using the PRO SKILL DRILLS book & DVD yet? Please comment on your experiance buying it, using it, its quality and value for the cost, and would you recommend it.

I would reccommend them. I haven't watched the DVD yet, but the book is nice.

Looks good

DVD is great, lots of things to try out. The 45-ball matrix looks especially challenging.

most pro players probably couldn't finish the matrix on a regular basis........very very very difficult drill.

Where's my DVD/Book???

Damn,
I ordered mine a week ago via paypal and still nothing! Has anyone else waited a week or more? I need these drills!

I got mine three days after I paid with paypal, shipped via Priority mail. I'm very pleased with the purchase and think its money well spent. As soon as I got it, I watched the video as I read the book and each drill was demonstrated along with very clear commentary, so I was able to get a basic understanding of each drill before I tried any. Taking the book to the ph, I was able to pick several drills and set them up and try them with a pretty good idea of what was expected. The drills are tough and lots of repititions are recommended. I only did about half of the repititions. If I can do some of these drills every time I go to the ph before I start playing someone games, I can see how it will be a big help. Would be nicer if I had my own table, but my wife won't let go of her antique dining room set. (we've talked.) I would honestly recommend this package for any serious player. :p

Mine arrived!

OK, my DVD / Book combo finally arrived and I first watched the nearly 2 hour DVD. Very impressive! The quality is excellent (only a brief 15 second period where the sound was deleted). Many drills are being done in real time, so you see the talent of the people doing them. These are incredibly difficult and in some cases deceptively difficult drills! I thought I'd run down to the basement and quickly pop of the drill where you run 7 balls from the spot into the corner, drawing back in a straight line each time. After an hour I never made it to ball #6 before I was so out of line that I would have to hit a rail to get back in line (not allowed)! So it really is impressive to think that people can do this 7 out of 10 times. I've got a long way to go! I think the key for me is to stick with it even though it is very frustrating right now. There is a lot of stuff packed in this Drill package and I think it is money very well spent.

I have enjoyed the Black Belt Billiards book http://members.aol.com/blkbeltbilliards/ which I have enjoyed and think it has helped my game. At least it gave me a direction to work in, instead of stumbling along in the dark. Very affordable and well worth the $$.

My 2 cents. :p

I have also enjoyed BBB and have put in a lot of time on it. hard to believe that I purchased it two years ago, 3-17-03. Only got to page 100. But I really improved my game with it. Now I'm an SL3. (Just joking - couldn't resist).

I came up with a 3 ball drill like that about 5 years ago and it was featured on another website but I am sure it has been around forever. As are all of the drills.

I believe the spot ball shot where you draw back is a proposition shot.

One thing about lessons on drills - they will only help you if you are prepared to do the work. The harder you work - the luckier you get.

Pro Drill Disappointment

I ordered both the book and DVD. I have been very happy with the book. The DVD would not play. After talking to the company twice, they promised a new one would be sent. It never was. The drills are great, but the customer service with problems sucks!

Your own table?

Convince her you can use a 9 footer to entertain on the holidays with a simple cover over the playing serfice. Also show her how well it can be used to fold clothes. Try placing a big fluffy blanket on it and have an indoor picnic on a rainy day. She bound to give to all of these practical uses, And be sure to tell her you'll teach her to play with you.

Actually, my wife let me have my 9' Brunswick Gibson when I asked her to tell me which style of furniture she liked. I hope this has helped. Now I have to go and do the dished again.

What is the opinion of anyone that bought this? Is it worth buying and did it help you? Do you still use it and any of the drills?

i suppose its worth the $25 or so for the book. most of the stuff in there i had heard of, been told about, or seen before. however, it is nice to have the book as sort of a reference for alot of the drills.

Dear Curdog,
I'm deeply sorry for any dis-service that has happened to you. :)
We remember you and your request very well. It was the only one we had all year out of the thousands of orders we have filled. :p
You were asked to please return your defective DVD and a new one would be sent the same day. :D
Our manufacturer replaces any defective DVD's we return to them at no cost.
You can understand why getting this back is a reasonable business request.
We don't think you were really trying to just get a free DVD from us for a league buddy, we really do have to swap them out.
Any way, when you send us back your defective DVD, we'll get right on your replacement. I promise!
Your welcome to call me directly if you'd like at 1-888-784-7574
I hope you are enjoying the monthly articles in Pool & Billiard Mag each month and that your game has improved through the book.
PRO SKILL DRILLS Vol. 2 is finished and we're just getting started with the new DVD production. If you get the new book, I'll throw in the new DVD as a gift. Just let me know it's you when you call.
Thanks
Dominic "The Drill Instructor" Esposito

It took a awful long time to get a response. Rest assured that nobody from your company requested the flawed DVD to be sent back. Why would I keep a DVD that wouldn't play for over 4 months? It is long gone! Your request seems a bit surreal to me after all of this time in not resolving the issue.
Guess the customer always gets screwed! I certainly wouldn't want your company to be out a few dollars because they wanted to assist an unhappy customer.

This looks great. I was about to order The Pro Book and Pro Book dvd series. I may still get that later but for now I ordered the Pro Skills book and DVD. Any comments on the Pro Book series? $150 for the book and dvd's is kinda pricey but I like the idea of having the visual from the video. I will post a review of the Pro Skills once I get it.
The Pro Book is the one to have. Work his sweet 16 shots and your game will improve. The book is $50 and worth every penny of it. I would skip the video as it is pricey and the book shows more. If you have the money I think $125 it is a nice add on to have the video but you dont need it. I have looked at almost every book and video on the market and this is by far the one of the best books you will ever buy.
