btwn China, Taiwan, Philippines...what continent can realistically compete with Asia Now in billiards or in the future? Do the math, where's the money...swarms of people increasing enthralled with the game.

Just wait until the Indian's fully embrace it. Number's trump all.

If you are taking about the women, nobody can beat the Chinese women right now. I believe the top 10 US men can hold there own in tournaments on US turf. Traveling...not so much. Johnnyt
 
You are correct- numbers trump all. However, the Europeans seem to win more than their share, whatever continent they are on. The passion for the game and skill of the Asian players are fantastic, but this is an international game, and we have a level playing field, because in Asia, Europe, and America, anyone who wants to train to be the best can now do so. That was not always the case.

As long as you brought up equal training. China's gov. takes the promising ones in all sorts of sports, including pool, right out of school and has thier best coaches train them. Taiwan is the same deal. I'm not sure about Japan and Korea. The Pinoy's get plenty of help from thier gov, their stables, and places like Star Billiard Center. A lot of the European players get full or part help from their gov. The US players get nothing unless they have a sponsor, and you have to be top tier player already to even dream of a full sponsor. Kind of like the chicken or the egg deal. Johnnyt
