product to make shaft really slick

I've been cleaning shafts with this stuff or Fast Orange for at least 15 years. Cleans the shaft pretty good and then I continue to polish.

Dick, Ho bought the Go-Jo.

It seems a bit abrasive. Will it take anything off the shaft?

I was given a small amount of pure pfpe, but not sure which molecular type. It looks like a clear syrup. Only a very small amount is needed to be placed on a shaft. Once applied , not much sticks to the shaft. I just wipe the shaft with a paper towel periodically.
This stuff is very slippery. The dupont equivalent is Krytox. But I don't know how to get the pfpe in a pure form that is not mixed with some other oil etc.But I like it.

Googled it and bought it. But it was a little more expensive than you paid. Sounds like some pretty cool stuff.

Thanks Jer... and thanks for the explanation how you use the "pencil sharpener" attachment for the Willard to cut down tips to shaft size. I also read somewhere that replacement blades are available at Staples and I got some of them too.

I do love these forums and the chances to trade information and become friends.

HI Jim; you will like this product & that can will probably outlive you. Just one short burst of the spray (shake well), on a paper towel, wipe the DRY lube on the shaft & you're done. After you try it, let us know how you like it...JER

I use a product called "SAILKOTE". It's a spray dry lubricant. I've used it for about 1 1/2 years & I'm still on the same can ($7.35 plus shipping). Just a quick shot of the spray on a paper towel, wipe the shaft down & you're done...JER

When do you apply this, before or after you burnish the shaft or does it matter?
Thank's,
Ron

After it has been burnished & after it has been sealed. I use it as a top dressing...JER

It sounds like it would also work well on balls.

Nice...

Thank's Blackheartcues,I will try this and see if it's better that wax as stated in there ad.I live in South Carolina, ocean on one side and swamp's on the other side, allway's humid. I wash my hand's and wipe my cue down at least five time's a night at the poolhall.

Thank's again,
Ron

I've used the Sailkote several times on different cues and this is GOOD stuff.... and if there's one thing I am it's picky as hell about the slickness of my shaft AND handle (no wrap cues for me).

This morning I used it on my current playing cue which has a stacked leather wrap. The can doesn't say anything about shaking well but it has a ball in there so I figure the stuff needs mixing and I shake well.

I spray it on a small piece of T shirt material and quickly (it dries fast) rub it on the cue. It took a little black off the cue so don't rub it very often or hard over black leather as it appears to be removing some dye. (but I had the rag pretty wet so less product on the rag may be safer for the leather)

After it dried it left a slightly hazy surface so after about 3 minutes, being sure it was dry, I polished it a little with a dry T shirt rag.

I played quite a while with the cue and both the shaft and handle, including the leather, stayed very slick.

I like this stuff and given it's intended use (for marine purposes) I'll bet that it stays slick for quite a long time. It says to use two thin coats to achieve maximum lubricity. I like that... "maximum lubricity". :groucho:

I had to wonder if people with sticky hands might want to give their fingers a shot at the beginning of the night?

I'm sure it wouldn't be healthy to spray it all over your body but a little over a couple fingers as an experiment might not hurt. My fingers are so dry it probably wouldn't make any difference.

Until further notice I recommend this stuff.. and remember I AM PICKY :groucho:

We use to use the stuff, but quit it about 10years back. My Dad got Me started on It. It cleans well I admit, but I felt much the same as You.

Another thing that bothered me was It leaves a sticky residue unless You rinse well. Don't know what others use to rinse, but I didn't like the idea of using water on the shaft. We use to use a damp rag though. Never warped a shaft, but still bothered me. Maybe others use alcohol or something that evaporates quicker.

It does clean well though, I'll give It that.

After about 8 hrs of play I still like the Sailcoat. No stickiness and still slick.
