Is there ever any carom playing in the carom room?

Do they have any kind of carom table?

Yes, they do. Can't remember if it's one or two carom tables but at least one was in constant use when I was last down there to watch a tournament.

You know Ray, prior to the early 1970's these were the usual rules for eight-ball. That is when a few influential pros got together and decided the rules should be published as an open table after the break. They felt it gave an advantage to the better player, and it did.

That is what I have been telling these apa haters on here for a while now. Not only have rules been changed to make 8 ball easier to run out but the same with 9 ball also

I really hated the slop in apa by over time I adjusted my thinking to where when lesser players slop one in its just like any game where you spot lesser players a few balls or games on the wire.

Made it a lil easier to deal with when I looked ar it like that but ita a necessary evil to pls in a league where break and runs are more challenging

I get a laugh outa players yhat claim they play in a serious pool players league whine about being penalized because they dont have a decent shot on whatever suit falls after the break

I agree with open table after the break....and it DOES favor the more skillful players.

" Take what you make" caters to mediocrity.....open tournaments should be for players that
want to be champions.

Of course if pros want to change the rules they're going to change them to advantage the better player. I personally like making it a bit harder to run out, to see a game with some more back and forth between the players.

How about if you run three balls....you flip a coin to see who shoots next?
See where this is going?....like modern education, nobody fails.

If you want to be a champion, work on YOUR game, not THE game.
