Anthony asked me to post this for him

Rhode Island Billiard, Bar & Bistro will continue to be the best place to play pool. We are going to restore all of our Brunswick Gold Crown III tables just like table 1.
New cloths, rubber and some pockets will be in this week.
Why you may ask, because they are the only Brunswick Gold Crowns, I can get that are made in America. All the GC IV and newer were made in CHINA, that is correct you can verify that. They are falling apart in every pool room across America.
You know the saying "They don't make it like they used to" it applies here.
We will also be introducing more Olhausen Champion Pros with life time warranty cushions that we will never have to replace.
We like night clubs too, but the quality of the tables and the ambiance of an old style billiards will never go out of style.

Brunswick is a big company. You mean to say they didnt spec out and approve all the materials and have a team of inspectors/engineers permanently in the factory in China? I know some Chinese stuff is crap but that's usually when they are "doing it on their own" and copying things they know nothing about. What went wrong here-Anyone know?

PS-I dont know how many tables you have but if its more than a dozen, id say leave a couple undone for the bangers and Fri night crowd. They dont respect the equipment or have any idea about what's good.

RI Billiards has such a rich history. I know of no other room where literally, you can buy a guy a cup of coffee and hear stories about Mosconi, Caras and others. The old school players are still there.

Your Father Tony and Mom Phyllis maintained the best pool room I have ever encountered. They cared for their customers and kept the equipment tip top.

I'm delighted to hear of your intention to honor that tradition.

I also enjoy the massive collection of old photos and framed pool art in Capital Billiards next door. See you soon.

Man,,,,,that sounds great !!

I posted a few weeks back about pool halls in Rhode Island as we were planning on taking a run up there on our bikes, as we had just been up to Burlington, Vt. and had a blast !!

Well,,those of you in the Northeast know how the cold has quickly moved in,,,hell,, last week,,,i winterized our bikes and put them away for the ""riding season''....usually,, it's done right around Thanksgiving,,,

But now we have something to look forwrad to next spring.....we were looking to stay at ''THE HOTEL PROVIDENCE'',,,,apparently,,it's walking distance to everything in the downtown area,,,,how far is the hotel away from your room ????

I would love to bring up a vintage cue or two,,,but not practical on a scoot,,,,oh well,,,we'll at least have our camera,,,,

Any info on the hotel and surrounding area ????

Thanks,,,,,,Alan..........

Rhode Island Billiards is in North Providence, most specifically, Centerdale. It is perhaps 15 minutes drive from downtown Providence. Bring your fine cues; you'll see a few in RI. If they don't travel well, just PM around road trip time and I'll show up with something worth using to kick a few balls in. If 3 cushion is your interest, RI can accommodate as well. See you in the spring.

Good 4u!

Great news! My brother in law has been involved with the PePac Center since its inception and lives in Coventry, I guess I better suck up to him a little more so I can visit and play some pool.....

Does anyone know what happened to the snooker table that used to be in Billiard, Bar & Bistro? I know the table is gone, but I'm wondering if it was sold to another pool hall or whether it has been moved to a private home somewhere in New England.

If the person who purchased it would be interested in having the table listed on FindSnooker.com, please have him/her contact me.

Before you get going to far down the road bashing the GC4's & 5's let me set you straight...from a mechani's point of view. The GC3's had the worst cushion problems Brunswick has ever had on a production line of tables, next...the way the pocket castings bolt up on the 4's and 5's are so far a head of the quality of design on the 3's it's a joke...and they were MADE IN AMERICA!

Look, all I'm saying is don't bash on Brusnwick to try and promote business...because you DO have Brunswick tables, but the 4's and 5's ARE better built...where is beside the point....Me...mechanic for 26 years...and owner of 3 pool halls in the past....all with GC3's:wink:
