The videos at www.Propoolvideo.com are so much better than anything on the internet and they do it with one camera. The balls are clear the screen is big. I just dont know how they do it. I dont think you even use a "media player". You just click and they start.

Is there a reason they can do this quality and others can't?

others can, but they don't. Definitely kudos to them for making it very high quality compared to most other sites that rely on youtube or something similar. it's flash media player by the way.

I believe their chosen method of encoding. I've done a lot myself doing dvd's and movies and such. I just don't think some people want to take the time or the effort in producing hq vidz. But at least these folks are trying and doing well.
From a business standpoint i can see why others don't use better encoding methods.... they're really not making money off the video, nor are they marketing to that audience. It's just adding to the bottom line.
Now with this site ur talking about, i don't know who runs it.... but they are starting off on the right foot. If ur gonna have 'video' in your domain name, it be best if they have their vidz in hq..... and i've seen them.... damn good job!

Kudos from me too...

They are well done, good quality, and no unnecesary BS in them. Very enjoyable for a true Pool enthusiast to watch. AND, they change them pretty often, so a new one or two pops up to watch.

It gives us a chance to see players, or more of players, that we have not seen play, or at least not very much, so we can evaluate their game, or at least how well they played.

It is a real pleasure to run across someone who did NOT 'Half-step' in their presentation of Pool matches and information.

THIS WEBSITE IS A DEFINATE BOOKMARK FOR ME.

Nostroke,
Wow, very nice quality. I'm with Snapshot, I bookmarked it immediately (I saw a Danny D. interview that looked interesting).

Don't you ever work??????? (you get positive rep even though we are all jealous)

Thanks guys but I wasn't trying to take credit for discovering the site. Im really trying to find out why the quality is so good and every last one of the others online suck!! Even the Accustats videos that you watch on your real TV-the balls are harder to distinguish.

I watched the filming of the Bird Bowl match that is on there and i dont think they even had any extra lighting! I love the editing though i think maybe once in awhile they should show the player when he is puzzled over a difficult position or shot.

As far as work, i refer you to my mentor Maynard G Krebs.

Its all about the camera work then the video editing. Nice job indeed. Who ever is running the camera is very talented.

Its a pleasure to watch Dennis Hatch shoot. Nice stroke for a south paw :-)

When I first saw the post, I thought someone was posting some kind of advertising. But I did watch some of them and did bookmark. So I should have posted something about it here. Thanks so much for pointing this out.

I love their videos especially the featured Dennis Hatch 4 pack video:) They have a feel to them much like you are right there in the room watching the action with the other sweaters vs. the sterile stuff I am used to viewing on ESPN.

Well keep in mind that not all have the equipment/software/skillz to develop what they have. They may have used Cleaner 5 (which ROCKS) to get the best video quality and used another software to play the video thru flash. Cleaner 5 or the newer version Cleaner XP is a bit expensive and u'll need a rock solid PC to encode the vidz at HQ.
Also keep in mind that even today, some people still are on d/u and not dsl.
All videos i have encoded allows the end-user to use both. Even if the user chooses hbw, the encoded video will play according to theri bw.

3-cushion coming to PPVc

Thanks for all the nice comments! I'm glad everyone is enjoying the site.

As for the video, I use Flash video as Hierovision pointed out already. I create my .flv files using Flash Media Encoder. But I recently found out about a free encoder called Riva. Now anyone can do Flash video for $0 investment.

I wanted you all to be the first to know that we will be covering a big 3-cushion billiards tournament at the new and swanky Doral Billiards in Miami. The tourney is being played on 8 gorgeous Chevillote billiard tables. Many world class players in attendance. More to come...

Jorge, if you keep putting up these new matches so frequently, you are going to bust the REP point machine here on AZ. :-)

Great job on the Corey and Earl State Championship match.
