Pros and Centerball

Right. And that is what I refer to as a pure stroke. The ability to deliver the cue on line in a smooth accelerating fashion to the intended spot on the cue ball, even at speed.
I think the cue speed at impact is a lot more important than the acceleration at impact. Of course, it is the preceding acceleration during the stroke that gives the speed, but the amount of acceleration at the instant of impact has very little effect by itself on the shot.

Now Joey,

I'm going to ask you what US Open Winner In Texas. But...before you answer, maybe you should re-read your post & count the # of times you used a subjective adjective since you are the man of Have Words Will Travel.

Joey,

What US Open Winner in Texas?

Signature: Old Man Rick

I was referring to the gentleman from Texas (whose name slips my mind) who likes to purchase the cues, used in winning previous U.S. OPen 9 Ball Championships. He is a major collector of Balabusha cues as well. When he traveled by car, he would occasionally stop by a pool room and pick up gas money from naive, young, wannabee, one pocket players. I've waited 10 years for him to return, but alas, he may have retired by now. Back then, he must have been 70 years old or more. :frown:

When I wrote earlier, and called him an old buzzard, I was just licking an old wound.

Well, I know you are a proponent of smooth acceleration so we agree on that being integral to a quality stroke. It seems reasonable that this is the most likely way to attain the desired impact speed with consistency.

But the point you're making is obvious - the correct speed at impact will determine the success of the shot. A nicely accelerating stroke doesn't do you much good if you get the speed wrong.
