When the IPT got rolling, someone compiled a list of players and the equipment they used. It should be available in a search.

yes, an extensive list. a huge portion of the players use ld shafts too according to that list. hope somebody can locate it.

The IPT collected everyone's equipment stats, but I'm not sure whatever happened to the list. They even took pics of all of our equipment...?

Many pros change frequently, always trying to find that certain something. I heard that most of the guys who were using a LD shaft have since gone back to a standard shaft...

I have always used a standard shaft, but it is presently at 12.4mm so it has relatively low deflection anyways...

Go to youtube and watch the "what's in the case?" videos with Samm Diep. A lot of the top guys use LD shafts, but a lot of them don't (Reyes/Souquet/Strickland/Morris to name a few. I feel slightly more accurate with a LD shaft on long shots but I feel like I have to work harder to move the cue ball. Had a predator z and a 314 for a year and didn't like them. My Pechauer shaft is my favorite. LD isn't better, just different. If you are comfortable compensating for deflection/swerve/throw with your current shaft, you should be able to adjust to anything (of decent quality) and see the pros and cons to all cue designs. Predator and OB make top quality products, but they're not for everyone. A lot of guys now are hopping on Fast Larry's juiced shafts, which are 11.5mm and pretty whippy (in a good way!). LD shafts make me feel more robotic if that makes any sense.

I have always operated under the assumption that pro pool players are similar to pro golfers when it comes to equipment. If one could liken LD shafts to the large sweet-spotted cavity irons; most pro golfers actually prefer the blade irons. Therefore, my thought is that the majority of pro pool players would actually prefer maple shafts. Of course, when you factor in sponsorship, then its a different matter altogether. Of course, my theory may be "all wet."

Check their shirts

If they can, most will play with whoever will pay them to use their equipment

Just look at Cuetec and their history with Strickland, Fisher and VanBoening.... Clearly, the best don't play with the best cues.

But appearances can be deceiving.

How many guesses you want to figure what kind of bike this pro ride is?
