This thread MAY catch some heat but it's not in ANY way speaking on behalf of all pros or experienced players....it's just a truth with some I have met...

I was reading an article from Roger Long ( certified Instructor as well as columnist for AZ ) about CTE ( This isnt about CTE ) and his statement in there about how Hal Houle's claims of Pros using this method and the reason they do not admit it to any of us is because WE the " regular " pool player are seen as the enemy. Again this has NOTHING to do with ANY aiming system/s the pros use...it is just to confirm what is true about the statement of pros keeping what they know secret from the rest of the pool community. The point is it's NOT true....but yet again it IS true... Not true in the sense that we arent seen as the enemy at all, just some are seen as undeserving of the knowledge that they all have earned on their own through their own trials and tribulations. TRUE in the sense that there are a LOT of secrets they keep from us. It IS very much a secret society of pool knoewledge, it's just a simple fact. If in their eyes they like your personality and see that you have a desire to play better...they will assist you by revealing some of their secrets...sometimes even without you asking for it. I have LUCKILY come across some great pro and top tier players who have greatly assisted me in my game and most assuredly boosted my game up beyond those around me who have been playing seriously a LOT longer than I have by bestowing knowledge upon me that I had NO idea about until they revealed it to me that very moment. And the truth is...a lot of it IS kept as a secret..how do I know?? Because I was instructed not to reveal anything that was to taught me as well from ALL of them..........In the words of my greatest teacher thus far after he taught me THE aiming system and how easy it was to pocket ANYTHING after he taught me....." It's like stealing aint it?! ".....My reply...." Just a look of astonishment back at him "....He just smiled back.

you cant train in what God left out. All the words in the world will never, ever take a person with little talent and turn them into a solid player. Never.

Sure knowlege is power and can make the best of a person, but some people have more potential than others no matter what they know. I'm living proof. If you cant execute but you know everything about the shot-it just aint gonna happen. You must be able to execute, period.

Now if you have a talented dummy that cant play, then knowlege will take that person much farther than a no talented person.

Very true FB but lets not get sidetracked at the root of this thread which is the fact that PROS do keep much of what they've learned in pool secret from the rest.....just the nature of the beast

Fatboy hit it already,

knowledge is really important-- but some guys have the needed talent to reach the top-and some not!
I also think that almost everyone is able to reach a really great level in pool-billiards with a big amount of training/hours. But somewhere it will end.....and what you really also have to learn..........it s also not easy to just have fun while playing. This can be really a hard part in the mental part of the game (most underestimated imo). To be lucky and in peace with yourself is a thing you have to learn! To learn to just let negative things behind you...every time you need to!
the physical part is the smaller problem in billiards!

keep shooting my friend and have fun^^

Ingo

Not true at all.

Most top players don't even know what an aiming system is.

There is nothing to keep secret.

There is no magic dust.

Everyone using a type of system--even if he don t thinks about it.

If your really good and have the talent then it doesn't matter what anyone teaches you, you will figure it out on your own.

(I'm not that good or talented, so lessons are welcome).

like Fatboy said knowledge is good

but to be able to apply the knowledge is better

so when you have the knowledge and know how to apply it imagination and creativity is still > knowledge

bottom line the best pool player in the world still has plenty of room for improvement

To be fair, I think most highly skilled pro's can't tell you what they do. When you start, it is all conscious thought. Then you start to bury bridge, stroke, warm up routines, aim in your subconscious...you are still improving, but you don't know it. It is action reaction subconcious. Ask any decent player how they form their bridge, then watch them. You will see them tell you how to form your bridge, but they will probably do their own slightly different.

Does Lebron know what makes the ball hit the hole?

Does any quarterback throw to an open receiver, or do they throw to the guy based on a subconscious trigger which says throw da ball!

Does Ronaldo see a guy lean right and think, ok, go left? No, it just happens and it is amazing the speed his body knows to respond to sensory input.

This is why instructor lessons are at least as valuable as pro lessons.

Have you won any tournaments with this knowledge ?
Maybe you should tell us about that aiming system ...

I don't play in tournaments ; )

I know that many might disagree with you ,but I am of the the opinion. It too is based on experience from several pros. And by the way the only difference between a professional and amateur ( not considering ability ) . Is that one does it for a living or money (road players are pros). Have told me the exact same things. Never once , though I asked , was I told what are they looking at (or seeing ) when aiming. Only things that they wanted to disclose.
And then told not to pass it on . I think this has been some sort of ritual that I myself am guilty of.
And by the way , the more people that don't believe this the more it works.

Darn I though with the last DVD I bought all the secrets were revealed. Will how much is it going to cost me to find out some more secrets? I have already checked with my cristal skull an it told me the secrets are out there. So were do I send my pay-pal? :frown:

Cte

Pistol, I just look at the shot and fire them in. In my view practice makes perfect. Everyone's aiming process differs, just find what works and put in the time. After that it's heart and dedication. No secrets, just like any other sport, talent and time.

Pat, I understand what your saying and you are 100% correct. There are little techniques and systems that advanced players use and very rarely discuss. Do we really believe the best players in the world and there favorite answer, " I don't know how I do it, I just do it", this is total bullshit. They are making a living playing pool, they know all about what they are doing. They don't share for the most part.

You tell me, how many instructional dvd's have the exact same info?
