Pros vs 8-ball on TAR

What percentage of runouts do you expect from the TAR 8-ball?

Pockets like that change everything. I'll guess 33 percent break and run.

I'm sure someone has broken down break and runs for previous events, but a couple things make me think 50 percent isn't impossible.

Efren "I like eight ball...I make ball on break, I win."

The fact that guys like Souqet and Holmann have run something like 27 racks of eight ball. I doubt their tables were nearly as tough as the TAR table, but still, that's a ton of racks.

Both of these guys are phenomenal players, and both play excellent 14.1 which helps prevent those positional mistakes in clustered tables.

For those three guys from the IPT which was 9-foot 8-ball with larger pockets.

The number is the percentage of the players wins that were break and runs.

Celtic is the man. I think my 33% percent might be close.

Damn you for being so smart...I f'd up my post and look like a monkey with the "I'm doubt" part. Long day...brain is fried...maybe beer will help.

my opinion for what its worth is that best 8 ball format is open after break call shot alternating breahs with 8 on break getting spotted.

but to me a runout is that much sweeter when I get out after taking what I make as opposed to the opposite. These guys can (and will) come up with some big shots. Let's make the challenge harder for them. They are pros for a reason, lets see it in action, and enjoy the show.

I definitely agree. In the town I live in we play exclusively in bars. The rule everywhere around here is take what you make. I love the expression on my opponents face when we have a little money on the rack, I break and am stuck with an ugly looking suit. His expression on the break is triumphant. But, when I still manage to run them, breaking up my clusters and opening my problems, his expression as he's handing me the cash is priceless. It's true that the runout is easier if it's open after the break, and it's a lot more satisfying to get the runout when you don't have the choice and it looks as though the odds are stacked against you.

You are right guys, you should be able to break, lose your cue ball, make a ball then be able to shoot at whatever you want vs controlling your cue ball keeping it center table so you have best chance to continue your run.

Sometimes I wonder if people on this forum even play pool for the cash. Trust me if you think you are the better player you should want the game as tough as possible.

Bingo! B-i-n-g-o
