Purpleheart with carbon fiber shaft

I wanted to see what all the hype was about, so i decided to build a few carbon fiber shafts.

My humble opinion, butt ugly, sounds like a shaft with a really hard tip, nasty stuff to work with, but

They do have a really low ld effect, dont ding as easy as wood, and can easily move cue ball.

This was just a fun expermient im not giving up my wood shafts as long as i can find decent maple.

Very cool experiment.

I am guessing that sound is why the commercial CF shafts have things like foam and such inside.

.

The shaft

Is a hollow tube, i have used different foams for filler, but this shaft has none.

I believe Stroud used a piezoelectric fabric inside his Smartshaft design, of course that was wood, but perhaps the same principles apply.
