Iam sorry but i think you guys got this wrong, broke players are a dime a dozen, not backers.

Well in my area any way!

There are a lot more sharper backers out there then players, just ask around!

Broke players around here that play open speed, have dozens of retards perfectly willing to adopt them.
When one backer burns out, there is always another waiting to feed them, give them housing, put them in action or in tournaments, change their diapers if need be, or bear their children.

That is how it has always been around here.

Ok, i staked a player in a match of 1 pocket race to 4 for a 1000, my player lost.

Now we are stuck a 1000 dollars.

They play another set the same way, my player wins.

Now we are even!

Sounds like if JJ was backing this player he would hand him 500 dollars!

If so he would be the only stakehorse that ever lived to do that!

I always keep track of my standings when i back a player, cause if we are stuck an amount, he must get us even before we split any thing!

Sounds pretty NITTY to me!!

Ill tell you this and to everybody else.... You get what you put in and thats that... Timing is everything and if you lose you lose. You put up the cash and you lose 3 sets and win one then maybe you should've of quit your horse after the first set unless you wanna grind it out like the stone cold gambler you THINK YOU ARE!!!!! I mean really...... You can do what you want and get what you get but if I were staked by somebody i would grind that FU*KER out till the end!!!! UNTIL MY STAKEHORSE says NO MORE!!!!!!! YOU KEEP GRINDING THAT F*CKER OUT!!!!!

That is if you have the grapes to play it out otherwise you shouldn't be staking a NIT!!!! Plain as my friend... Plain as....

AGAIN!! Nobody pays you for yardage you win or go home empty as a stakehorse... Thats the bill and if you want it any differently then thats your choice not mine...

Lets be frank here... Does anybody have any gamble anymore or is the whole pool world full of nitty locksmiths that want the nuts?? I mean come on... Im not trying to be a total ass but where has this really gone to?? In my younger years a stakehorse staked guys that WON!!!!! Not LOSE!!!!!!! They made money because they were smart and willing to pony it up " ALL " at once... To make a dime or two!! They had total confidence in their player and their abilities to come through in the clutch!!! It seems nowadays nobody wants to bet 10 cents that's waters wet without a guarantee!!! PIFT!!!!

Lesson one in Stakehorsing... If you honestly have any doubt that your player cant beat the living snot out of every player in the room.... Then double your money by folding it over and putting in the top right pocket of your levis and walk home...

Bet on yourself and you will know the sheer joy of walking out of a place full of cash for you and you only.... Otherwise you'll have to owe a nit that doubted you and says you get nothing because you lost the first 10 sets...

Anyone who continues to back someone after watching them losing 10 sets in a row, is a world class idiot.

Anybody that tried to offer my a deal (if that's what you call it) like that I would tell them to shove off and put myself in!! Pift!! Never heard of such a thing. So you mean to tell me that you deserve the entry (or said bet) back after you earn your winnings?? Bunch of Horseshite!!

So lets say the entry fee is $100 and the player wins $300. You get the $100+$150 spilt and the player gets $50 messly bucks for charging through a tough bracket to win you money?? Yeah aint happening... I think that since you're only putting up the cash and the other guy does the work why should you be entitled to get the lions share?? You should also know that backing players is not a profitable aspect or situation. Unless you honestly feel like your player snaps the whole event off then don't bother... Its a waste of time and money.

Say you back a player in a gambling session. What would your spilt be then?? Would you take 70-30 like Bert or would it be spilt 50/50. I think we all know the answer to that!! So whats the difference about entry fees and backing a player in a heads up session?? Not much other then the player has to play longer and harder to make any kind of money in a tournament situation.

These economics are pretty basic and like I said before... I think most that voted the first option don't gamble or play in tournaments!! HELL... If this really is the standard im gonna be a bonafide stakehourse and rob my players!! Hell YEAH!!! Sounds like being a creep is profitable so Im gonna go for it.

Ive heard some corkers but this one takes the cupie doll :speechless:

You need to work on your math skills. Entry is $100. Player wins $300. Backer gets the $100 entry fee then they split remaining $200. Player gets $100. They both make $100 in this scenario.

The goal is not to gamble but to manage risk. The backer would soon be broke like you if they gambled.

I feel like both sides are right. It all boils down to who needs who the most. If the backer is begging to throw money at the player then the split should favor the player and if the player is begging for money the split should favor the backer. Seems pretty simple to me!
