QATAR WORLD CUP 10 BALL, OCT. 28 to NOV. 2, 2025

Shaw made some questionable decisions in his loss - a pushout that SVB didn't even bother looking at and his final shot on the 10 ball in the last game. Still a bit shocking he had to face off against Neuhausen in his first match.

Gorst has had a rough go since the China Open. Premature exits in Peri, Hanoi and Philippines. Now Qatar.

Mario He really appears to have fallen off. I've long thought he needed to get in better shape to have more stamina. Yapp appears to have lost some weight this year, and I think it helped him.

AJ Manas lost to Hohmann. Really no surprise. He outfoxed the young gun. Manas has to sit in a room for a few months and work on pushouts and safeties.

in day to day routine, the main difference between a citizen and a green card holder is that if you break the law, even just running a red light, you'll get deported. Is gambling legal?
wrong. deportable offenses are felonies/serious crimes. traffic offenses and minor misdemeanors are not in the same category. my sister had a friend with a GC and she got a few traffic violations that didn't affect her status. as for gambling i have no clue, doubt its considered taboo.

hohmann has been in good form lately. i'm glad to see that, having been a fan in his heyday years. he still shoots at a decent speed. plays kledio next

other oldboys: ralf lost, niels won

Given the WPA's goal of getting pool into the Olympics, I would be very surprised if they weren't using IOC rules for representation. IOC rules require citizenship, which Fedor does not have yet.
Correct. Had to double check the Oly deal. They can compete for their new country once naturalization is complete. MR pool is not the Olympics yet people get all wound up over who plays for who. JFC people its a pool exhibition.

To be fair, AJ is every bit Hohmann's equal, but ....

Despite what Scott Frost and Emily think, there are holes in the 19-year-old Manas' game. There is no denying he has great fundamentals and is a very capable runner of the table, perhaps world top forty in that respect despite a Fargo that has him ranked #72. Perhaps he will end up being like Chezka Centeno, who wins some majors despite being tactically mediocre, but in men's pool, it will be much harder to overcome such weaknesses.

As for your statement about Manas' missing tactical pieces, it was just as true a year ago, and there does not appear to be any real development of late. With young players who seem tactically deficient, people often assume they will add the missing pieces, but in my experience, they rarely do. For what it is worth, fellow Filipinos Pagulayan and Corteza were tactical wizards at AJ's age.

Despite his relative lack of emotion at the table, I really enjoy watching Manas because he keeps things moving, plays nice patterns, and can wow me from time to time. It would be great to see another great young player in our game. I'm rooting hard for him to succeed.

I just hope someone gets in his face soon and explains to him that the game has evolved in a direction that demands superior defensive and tactical play for those who hope to lift trophies. He can be one of the best if he applies himself to adding the missing pieces.

AJ is a great story waiting to happen. He should pay attention to Moritz Neuhausen, whose trajectory from age 18 to 21 included major gains in his break, his defense, his tactical play, and his offensive efficiency. Neuhausen now finds himself as a Top 10 ranked player on the WNT and an automatic qualifier for this year's Mosconi Cup. I also believe that Moritz has the highest Fargo rate of any under-25 player in the world.

Go get 'em, AJ Manas, but be careful not to read your press clippings. There's still a long road ahead. See you in the winner's circle soon!

Anyone knows why Fedor is shown under neutral banner and not USA?

you've got answers to his case, but the short answer is that players with white flag have an ambigiuos representation in the eyes of WPA, for one reason or another.

in the case of wiktor zielinski he lives in poland, is polish, but is in bad standing with the polish federation. for michael giorgiou i think he isn't member of the proper cyprus federation, but not sure.

Fedor, among my favorite players, has had it rough all year, not finding the winner's circle in even one 9ball or 10ball event. Yes, he has two silver medals at the majors, but I'm sure he'd tell you that he's very dissatisfied with his year in competition, in which he has failed to win in any of the biggest spots.

When you're a Filler or a Gorst, only titles mean something. For three years, they stood alone at the top, but this year, with three major titles, Yapp has been the world's best player, and even Josh and Fedor know it.

If Yapp wants to play either Filler or Gorst a big set(or sets) for big money i'm taking JF and FG all the way.

I do agree with your assessment on AJ. He always like he’s playing nonchalantly, not a care in the world, but he cares, he just doesn’t show it like some other players. I have to slightly disagree with you about Chezka. She used to shoot at anything and everything. Now, she’s showing a little bit of patience (key word is little), based on her last tournament win. She played better safety than Rubilen in their last dust up, which is a tough ask. She needs to improve on her jumping skills though, which is way below league average.

One thing about Chezka is her intimidation factor, her opponents’ fear of missing plays a huge factor in her success so far. Imagine if she can add killer safeties and a mean jump shot, we’re talking about Jean Balukas stratosphere in the near future.

Let's say we are talking race to 50 so endurance (and boredom factor) is out of the equation.

Honestly, Gar, I'm just not sure they'd beat him right now, but obviously it would be very close. Yapp has produced the kind of consistency that both of them have lacked in 2025. Nobody is suggesting that Yapp has passed either Josh or Fedor in pedigree, but in 2025, he is the best player.

In regard to Gorst neutral status (flag) , or basically any other player/ sportsman.

So weird that in the age of developed AI people still fail to make a simple search query in any search engine (like Google). Now that they made Gemini free to access (AI search mode) I advise every American who seem to not be familiar with the way international sports federations work (being brought up on commercial sporting leagues like MLB, NBA, NHL) open that search engine and enter the following string:

The procedure for changing sports citizenship

I hope then it makes everything clear for them.

There is more interesting question on this topic. Why did Michael Georgiou (a snooker player who represented England until 2016 and Cyprus since then up to present day) have to play under the same AIN status (under blank flag to his name)???

Nice post. Like you, I'd love to see that.

As I've noted numerous times on this forum, Chezka runs the table as well as the two best players of this generation, Han Yu and Siming Chen, each of whom has mass produced major championships. If she can add the pieces you have noted, she has a chance to enter the GOAT conversation, but for her talent, she has far too few major championships.
