Qiut smoking day for AZers and support.Monday.

I've smoked for about 6 years now after quitting for about 15 years. Just ordered a voprizer for myself and as soon as it arrives, the cigarettes will be gone. I'm going to start with the oil that has nicotine in it and slowly mix less of it in with the non nicotine oil. As I just turned 40 I realized that time is getting shorter and every day I can extend my life by quitting, the better I am for it.

Stop now. Stop right now. You did it before. You can do it again. Do not prolong the agony. The sooner you stop the faster your body/lungs start to feel better. Go for it. Be in control of yourself. You're the boss.

Get ready and make this monday your quit day...........

Stop now. Stop right now. You did it before. You can do it again. Do not prolong the agony. The sooner you stop the faster your body/lungs start to feel better. Go for it. Be in control of yourself. You're the boss.

Just wanted to bump this up.

Powerful words of wisdom............

After you quit. Your car will run without you lighting up. Your phone works without a smoke in your hand.

BTW.. I drink.....alcohol goes down without a cigarette in my hand. :D

Are you for real? I don’t have to be a scientist to know that e-cigarettes ARE a safer alternative. All I have to be is literate. Read the ingredients in both and draw your own conclusions.

After decades of smoking I will never light up another cigarette.
Quitting is tough but man, I knew it was killing me and couldn't stop.
I knew I was getting Emphysema & coronary artery disease and kept smoking until the day of my surgery.
If you like oxygen, surgery & hospitals keep smoking, otherwise quit cold turkey with the patch, Wellbutrin, and serious motivation.
That's what I did because I never realized how much I hated being in the hospital until this last ordeal.
Also, you would think I learned my lesson in the hospital when I complained about chest pains, and they kept me for another day and a half.
Last week the Lipitor was killing me so I went to the doctor with chest pain.
My doctor had me hauled to the hospital in an ambulence, so there I was again with those stupid IV's*, jail food, basic cable, and a couple of decent looking nurses.
According to my cardiologist this is repairable, but it's all due to smoking. .

*Note: IV does not stand for a Schon IV shaft with an ivory ferrule

Sad thing is if they keep it up they will get there also.

Eventually this smoking thing gets us all. The ones that have smoked have already shortened their life and the quality of it but they don't even know it.

Sorry to hear the bad things that are going on in your life.

Powerful testimonial right here for sure.

Your words are going to be read by thousands on here.

Hang in there and good luck.........

Do we have any new quitters this week,,,,,,,,,

Let us know how your feeling and share what you are going through.

And most of all.

Good Luck................

Wow!

You would think this would be all of the inspiration that other AZBers would need to quit smoking or to STAY QUIT.

Your body and lungs are yours to do what you want with. Am I for real? At 67 I
must be. It's not from being illiterate. The thread is about danger of smoking and stopping. I stopped. I support others and will encourage anyone to give it up. Are e-cigs safer. There was a story on the news a few years ago about an e-cig that blew up in a guys face and injured him badly. Anyway I'm not debating you on anything. Your life. Your lungs. I try to enjoy every breath of air. It's free.
I know of a person that smoked heavily. One day he had a problem leaving work. It took him 10 minutes or so to walk out the door. His wind was gone. This went on daily until he ended up in hospital and received a lung transplant. His life got worse. Could not work. His wife got tired of taking care of him physically and financially. She split. That's the reward he got for all of his Raleigh coupons.

After a few false starts, I have not had a cigarette in over a week. Cold turkey. Still want one, most all the time. That alone, tells me not to ever have another puff.

Gets easier. The urges diminish. Keep up the great work. One minute, one hour, one day at a time.

I've also read a lot of information backing up that e-cigs aka 'vaping' can cause pneumonia, especially in cold weather..... Forget about vaping, pills, and gadgets and just cold turkey quit. that is the only true way to do it......like I said before all the gimmicks in the world won't equate willpower.

When I got out of the hospital :joyful: I gave my cigarettes away, went to Costco and spent 50-bucks on patches.
The cardiac rehab people said to get the 12-hour patch unless you smoke in the middle of the night.
Since I smoke or smoked in the middle of the night, I had to get the 24-hour "CQ" patch.
The CQ Clear isn't good for a full 24-hours, but I toughed it out for the cycle and I'm good.
Not as easy as it sounds but another motivating factor to consider is the cost of treatment.
Lots of procedures, multiple EKG's (at least 10 so far), nuclear stress test, many x-rays, various other tests, angiogram, angioplasty, hospital time, cardiac rehab, subsequent office visits, subsequent ER visit via ambulance, and last but not least is the expensive medication.
Some people might have to factor in time off of work, and I missed a few league nights.
Thanks to President Obama and Medicaid everything was covered for me under the ACA, but not everyone is that lucky.

Good luck
Ted

Quit forever Highmiles. One day you will look back on the cold turkey torment that only lasts for a short while and realize that it was worth the effort. The benefits of not smoking will affect your health in a positive way the rest of your life.

It is worth quitting and I speak from personal experience. 3 packs a day of Marlboro Red and one pack of Red Man. I thought there would never be a day where I didn't crave a cigarette or a chew.

Just wanted to say I haven't had a cigarette in 2 weeks. Pretty big accomplishment for me considering the amount of time I spend in the pool hall. Some days are harder than others but the urge does go away. For everyone trying to quit, keep trying and good luck.

If your the only one that quits in the whole world and the final seed to quit

Was there because of this thread then this thread was a great success.

Hopefully by sharing your experiences on here you can help others.

We all need support to quit. And we all need the attitude that we have had enough of this insanity before it is too late.

I saw a movie with Justin Timberlake where the people had some kind of gadget right in their wrist where they could buy time and give time to other people.

One guy in the world had the bazilian amount of time in a vault. He controlled all the time.

For example if you wanted a car you needed to give up 10 years. This one guy was playing poker and won 2,000 years. On the last hand he bet almost all his time and won but almost ran out of time before he got paid his time.

In other words you could die today if you ran out of time or you could live forever if you owned more time.

Each minute that we smoke we are giving up our time and it's not even a maybe. The statistics show this for sure.

The nice thing for the people that make this hideous invention, dead people don't complain about bad results from their products. They have no voice.

If they could this thread would already be up to a bazzilion.

God job there with your efforts. Sounds like your on the road to recovering your power.

Thanks for sharing and keep it up.

I too are smoke free for 2.5 weeks now and I'm enjoying the non hacking up brown crap in the mornings and the wheezing at night laying in bed. I still nic every now and then but they're tolerable. The two nights a week I play apa and an in house league in bars that allow smoking aren't as bad as I thought they would be. The worst part of those nights, are coming home and smell the nasty smoke that is in my clothing. Can't wait to rip em off when I get home

Keep it up! Even after just 3 days the nicotine is out of your system. Then it's just a matter of will power and fighting the urges until you no longer have them at all.
Believe me when I tell you, it does go fast. At about 2-3 months I remember thinking, man, I haven't had an urge in I don't remember. Now, at over 5 years, I look back and can't believe I ever smoked.

This is my experience as well. Although my urge to smoke lasted longer than a couple of months. It did lessen as the months of abstinence increased.

It is hard for me to believe that I fooled myself for so long, saying that I enjoyed smoking. It was just the addiction bull-shitting me.

Well...its not a Monday and I'm technically cheating but I smoked my last cigar/cigarette today...the reason I say I'm cheating is I got one of the vaporizer's. I plan to use the vaporizer as a crutch. I tried cold turkey a few times without success.

About a year ago my wife successfully quit smoking cigarettes and she hates the smell so I started smoking cigars instead...At first a cigar (Backwoods) would last me a full day and over the last 8 months or so it got to where I was smoking up to 4-5 a day. Its time to quit....

no such thing as good luck in quiting!!! Very Hard Work!

I'm glad others are having success . I have cut back smoking days but others are bad. Tried switching Brands too - they all taste like TP to me. Toilet Paper- I was always a non-smoker- just crazy I smoke . Thanks to the others that are helping with the on line (non-smoking forum.
