is this thing gonna be a success or flop? it's hard enough for tournament event planners to hold a pool event that gets enough interest for 3-5 days. Qlympics is claiming to be 3 weeks of nonstop pool action.

I like the concept but holding it at the same time as the most prestigous event in pool (WPC) is a mistake IMO.

Shame because it looks good
 
Is anyone here planning on attending/has room booked? Sounds like this might be one of those things that isn't quite off the ground.
 
This will be a series of great events!

Mark Griffin (owner of the BCAPL) has put a lot of planning into the Q-Olympics, scheduled for next November, at the Executive West Hotel, in Louisville (same venue as DCC). All events will be played on 9' Diamond tables. There are many different events, and MOST are geared to amateur players, which means that the WPC has no bearing at all. Also, the WPC will only have a select few players (128 max...and half that many after a couple of days), from around the world. The DCC had over 400 in each event. There will still be hundreds of players available to participate in the open/pro events. This is not meant as an event where the same person/team stays there for the entire three weeks. People will come and go, participating in the events that they choose. Randyg and I will be conducting two different 3-day road show poolschools, during the Q-Olympics. Thanks for the info. I'm a little confused about the "US Open" events listed. Is this affiliated with the "official" annual 9-ball US Open? (They seem to have every event except 9-ball) Also is this a Pro or Amateur event? If amateur will Pros be specifically excluded, and if so by what criteria?
 
If I am not mistaken this is the BCA that is putting on this event. It is not affiliated with Barry Behrman's U.S. Open 9-ball Championship. I'm very much looking forward to the Qlympics especially since they are including 14.1
