I am not a prude by any means but this website is a valuable conduit for discussing important issues on the game and to sort through the dross for the gems is getting harder and harder.

I can't wait to be flamed for this but try and keep it at a constructive level.

I apologise to those of you who might be offended by my comments because i know that there are still a lot of intelligent people who lurk out there and they know themselves that I am not targetting them.

I hear ya. I'm a newbie. I can learn from my mistakes. I shall make a concerted effort to eliminate the boredom from my gems of philosophy.

I thought about this a while ago-why the IQ has dropped 20 points or so the last 6-7 years here. Part of it i believe is that until 10-12 yrs or so ago most of the internet users were adventurous brave and intelligent people interested in gaining knowledge and seeing the great potential of PCs and the internet they overcame the difficulty, cost and hassle while the dolts sat on the sidelines with no interest and no vision.

Now it is the dolts who are here in mass as computers are pretty much mandatory to do anything. This is aggravated by the fact that no one will listen to these morons in real life for 10 seconds but here they have a captive audience and in short we now suffer.

Definitely a portion of the issue.
 
Diversity

Every where you look on this planet you will find diversity, AZB is no different. You have diverse players,diverse members, diverse posters, etc. You mix them all together and you get different opinions, some serious and on topic and others not so much.

I myself enjoy the diversity here on AZB. That being said, I like for the threads that I subscribe to or read to stay on topic. I can live with a post or two being off topic, but a lot of times the threads get so derailed that another subject(off topic) that just got mentioned takes over for many replies to come. When this happens it tends to ruin the thread, but I'll keep reading anyway...lol.

I don't know you but I feel your comment. Here is where I insert the definition of insanity because I'm guilty as well. I like to actually "do" something and I guess I come here to solve or crack the code of what we can actually "do" to improve pool. I would like to see something "done" to improve its future and this journey has been an education. I'm determined that its very "doable" because its my belief that both pool and life aren't as complicated as some people would make it. I came to the forum I don't remember the date but I would guess possibly 2005 and found the Aiming Wars.

I learned a lot about human nature reading that debate, while I was on my own journey to provide the answer to it. What I found was simple yet not many can tell you how they do what they do and I hesitate to share it because of the human nature part of the equation.

So I still seek the grail of what it will take to move this slow moving mass towards a slightly higher level of perfection that might cause it to develop some grass roots and a future in modern society, but its a lofty goal.

What I am finding is this is a doctrine not a lot unlike the Presbyterian. Perhaps its "Predestination" that determines pool players. If you are a pool player or aspire to be one then it was "Predestination" that singled you out and made it so.

Now if you are a fan of "Predestination" then let me ask you one thing. Since it was Predestined that you would become a pool player then what is all the "mission work" about because.....you were going to be one anyway...right?

Well,..."scratches head"....hmm, yeah I guess so. So instead of wasting all those trips to Africa or Communist Countries to convert the masses perhaps we just accept the fact that the "Pool Thing" or the "Forum Thing" is nothing more than a bunch of dogs chasing the wheels of cars as they fly down the road. I think some cars go slower just to tease us into thinking they are going to give us a ride but dang it...one of these days I swear, I'm finally going to catch one and everything is going to be alright with the world.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. I just wish those cars would slow down just a little bit, the tires smell great.

I want to agree with you here but some of those news groups were filled with, let's say, "interesting" folks. Along with RSB and ASP I also lurked in alt.drunken.bastards. It was a refreshing change some days.

While the name itself is a misnomer, I do recall rocking the 1200BAUD.

Oh and yes Jennie, I am slick. Just providing a little reality check. If I wanted to be sneaky I'd have matched the background color with code.

There are many whacky people who are smart -even though their opinions may be crazy. Just no way the early internet users weren't way ahead of the average user today in IQ. Slowly and slowly the level went down til here we are. Im not saying that is the 100% cause but no doubt, imo, a big part of it.
