The high break in the US Championships is typically 50-some, I think. Tang Hoa won it in 1995, and made the first century ever by a US player at the world championships, but he has not played since, so far as I know.mnorwood said:Could anyone offer any estimation of the quality of the players that compete in the US snooker championships. Are they pro quality? Do you think an amateur could jump in and be competitive?
Hi Ray how are you?raybo147 said:I would love to play in this tournament but since I run a landscape supply company in Philly and this is in May in CA (the busiest time of the year for me) so it is just not going to happen. I would love to go to the World Amateur's as I came close when I lived in Northern Ireland but never qualified. This could be the easiest way to get there as the standard is a lot lower than the Nationals I used to play in. I did play in the European Championships when they were in N.I. as I got in by being the National Junior Champion (Under 21) at the time. I have been living in the States for 11 years now which means I have not played in a snooker tournament in 11 years. Maybe next year!
I think he sold it privately, I work about 70 hours a week from March to the end of June so doing anything outside of work other than putting my kids to bed is pretty much impossible. I was hitting balls with John Schmidt at the Expo in Philly a few weeks ago and I let him try my John Parris (he was impressed). John is thinking about playing in the snooker nationals if his schedule will allow it and I told him if he wins and qualifies for the World's I will be happy to have some practice sessions with him and knock him into shape. Good to hear from you Alan.Alan Morris said:Hi Ray how are you?
It's a great shame you can't enter again this year as it would be great to have you in the tournament. It helps all the players involved when you can raise the standard of play. Hopefully next year then!
I'm back in England now but I was in New York City last week playing snooker, and doing some other things there for the association. What did Bob do with the table at Drexhill?
Best wishes.
Alan.
Hi Ray it's good to hear from you too - I am going to try and get on this forum more often but so busy with my snooker at the moment.raybo147 said:I think he sold it privately, I work about 70 hours a week from March to the end of June so doing anything outside of work other than putting my kids to bed is pretty much impossible.
