Question about a cue?

A friend of mine has a custom cue that does something I've never seen. You know how when you break your shaft bends some... Well his shaft tends to stay in that same shape after every break. Then he finds the high spot and bends it right back straight. Has anyone else ever had this happen?
 
I think its a shark....
I know I couldnt play anybody with a cue like that for serious.... that would have me rolling on the floor..!!!!
 
My ob-1 does it. It is not serious, but everytime I hit a ball hard it tends to bend the same direction everytime and it stays slightly bent.
 
A laminated shaft can do this.

Real shafts, er, I mean - real wood - won't, of course.
(Unless the wood isn't sealed and you live in a very high humidity environ, but only an idiot cuemaker woudl sell shaft wood subject to this)

Name brand laminated shafts shouldn't do it, but they are manufactured
not hand-made. As with any manufactured product, there's going to be
some bad apples. With all those layers of glue, adhesives and anti-deflection space-age-filler-material, if the vacuum isn't perfect then air or other impurities will prevent the layers from curing & bonding correctly.

Just buy wood shafts instead :D

This is not good thing, basicly this tells you the wood fibers have broken down from use, abuse, or just crappy Maple. I would replace the shaft, it can not be doing what it suppose to.
 
I bevieve if you read the instucions that came with the cue you'll find it's for around the corner shots. Johnnyt
 
Thanks for the posts fellas. Its not laminated. Its just a plain maple shaft. I guess i'll have to tell him to order an ob-1!

Haha. That reminds me of this guy that sings Kareoke(SP) in the bar i play in. He sings "el vira" or something like that.. Its an old song. Instead of saying el vira he says viagra. And he changes the lyrics around. It was funny the first few times.

Ha Ha, Yes I have! and I can't wait to send this thread to a friend of mine! It was a sneaky pete my buddy used to have. I looked at one day and noticed it was super warped, so I bent the shaft abit and it was straight, instantly, so.. I bent in another directoin and it stayed!
We played that thing for half an hour. It was like silly putty or wire or something. I am not familliar with the cue maker, But it said "Gibby 99" on it.
Makes me laugh every time i think of him bending it perfectly straight, just before he sold it.
 
Haha.. I just got back from shootin with him. He's so retarded. He keeps bending it and i think he wants to finally snap it. I heard a slight cracking sound once when he was bending it back straight. It makes me cringe every time he does it, because I know he's gonna snap it trying to get it back straight.
