Question about lumber quality with pics

I recently purchased some lumber from a cue supplier and this is what I received compared to what was advertised. I wanted to get your opinions before I jumped the gun about returns. The first was advertised as exceptional high end shaft dowels worthy of the finest cues. Top grade quarter sawn white, straight grain with no run off

The second was listed as magnificent goncalo alves with heavy stripe

Just wanted some info and opinions, thanks in advance

Can't tell with the shafts because the pics are all of the face grain, not edge grain. In order to see how straight the grain is, you'll need pics of the edge grain. However, in the pics you have there are clearly a few shafts that have considerable runoff. If I can see it in the face grain, it's bad. A couple look really good, too. I can't comment on the others because I simply can't see them.

As for the goncalo, that's pretty poor quality is aesthetics were your goal. That's pretty bland stuff.

You were also promised a guaranteed minimum of 12 to 16 growth rings per inch and you're lucky to see 6, right again?

RPI are measured in a 1" square, not a finished shaft.

It's immaterial if it is a round dowel or a square, rings per inch are the same. 3 in a half inch equals 6 per inch as does 12 per 2 inch.
