Question about soft leather cue tips ?

I have been using medium tips for awhile now. I was wondering will a soft tip give more english on the cue ball when i need it. I have looked at several different soft tips on line like elk masters, moori's, kamui's and etc. I heard so one say take a elk master an soak it in milk and it will be the best soft tip you every had is this true? If this is true let me know how long to soak please or what tip guys in your opinons would recommed. please help professor1967

Go layered, go soft, go Sniper. Can't be beat. They are tricky to install so go to someone you trust with your cue.

If you soak an Elkmaster tip & press it you will no longer have a SOFT tip. If you want a soft tip get an Elkmaster...JER

All are obviously good recommendations as long as you're not breaking with the cue or overpowering shots with the soft tip cause you'll need to continually scuff and shape the tip. Find out what works for you, whether it be talisman layered, sniper layered, lepro, elkmaster.

Just make sure the tip man you know can throw out the bad tips from the good ones and one that trust 100% with your cue as has been stated.

I just tried a Moori soft and a Sniper after using Talisman mediums and Moori mediums for some time. I like the Moori soft very much. Not too enthusiastic about the Sniper so far, but I really didn't give it much of a chance. I tried it for about 10 minutes and chose the Moori soft. YMMV.

IMHO, the Moori soft is not overly soft, which is what I had heard. People posted here that it was like the old Moori medium, and that is what I wanted. I got it...Tom

Sniper tips when first installed play pretty softly. After a few hours of play they harden right up to a medium slightly on the harder side.

I don't believe you'll get more spin from a soft tip. I believe I get just as much spin using a Talisman x-hard as I do using a soft-whatever.

I've been playing with a Moori soft ("Slow" actually nowadays) for a few years now and I can't imagine changing to another tip. I like it very much. And yes, I feel I can spin the ball easier with it.

Cue ball spin comes more from friction from chalk than it does from the hardness of the tip.

The hardness of a tip is used to speed up or slow down your play. Originally, a softer tip was used on smaller tables and/or people who stroked harder and the harder tips for bigger tables/softer strokes. I do not believe that holds true anymore.

Find a tip you like as far as speed, sound, feel, taste, and then learn how to groom it to hold chalk.

My experience with Moori is only Mediums. And they glazed over very quick resulting in constant scuffing and wearing it down. I have seen and heard from others that Moori softs tend to mushroom. And I have also heard mixed reviews about Moori in general meaning that they seem inconsistant.
